Those numbers dont seem correct. When I pull up sales from last year this is what I find for USA.

2 weeks before Black Friday week
Wii 288,779
360 167,768
PS3 91,195

Week before Black Friday week.
Wii 158,415
360 138,345
PS3 79,539

Black Friday week
Wii 440,804
360 274,861
PS3 175,137

Last year 2 weeks to 1 week percentage change
Wii gained 82%, 360 and PS3 both gained 21%

This year 2 weeks to 1 week percentage change
Wii dropped 2%, 360 gaines 27% and PS3 gained 15%

From week before to Black Friday week last year
Wii gained 53%, 360 gained 64% and PS3 gained 82%

 Black friday last year was 22nd Nov 2007

So it goes like this

10th nov to 17th nov 2007 (1 week before Black friday 2007) http://vgchartz.com/hwtable.php?cons%5B%5D=PS3&reg%5B%5D=America&start=39397&end=39404

PS3 = 176k.   Compared to 91k this week, a week before Black Friday 2008.

3rd of Nov to 10th nov 2007 (2 weeks before Black Friday 2007) http://vgchartz.com/hwtable.php?cons%5B%5D=PS3&reg%5B%5D=America&start=39390&end=39397

PS3 = 134k.    Compared to 79k last week which was 2 weeks before Black Friday 2008.

27th of Oct to 3rd of Nov 2007 (3 weeks before Black Friday 2007) http://vgchartz.com/hwtable.php?cons%5B%5D=PS3&reg%5B%5D=America&start=39383&end=39390

PS3 = 99k.     Compared to 71k (1st Nov to 8th Nov 3 weeks before Black friday 2008)

Meaning for the 3 weeks before black friday last year the PS3 sold in america 409k units.

The PS3 has sold 3 weeks before black friday this year 241k units.

Thus concluding the PS3 the 3 weeks this year before black friday has sold -168k LESS units then over the same period last year. Almost losing 50% of sales.

So your numbers were wrong and my numbers were wrong in the 1st post because they included black friday. However as you can see even with out the actual sales of black friday the PS3 still has dropped 50% sales in the past 3 weeks over this time last year.

So i think that is some serious ownage there for you to try and figure your way out of Lucas :)

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

I think this is a more fair comparison (although it slightly gives an adv. to 07).

2007:

Week ending 17th + week ending 1st (dec)

Wii: 1141K

Ps3: 615K

X360: 581K

Total: 2337K

2008: Week ending 15th + 22nd

Wii : 1424K (+ 26.2%)

Ps3: 433K (-29%)

X360: 740K (+ 27,5%)

Total: 2597K (+ 11.1%)

As this gives a fair edge to 2007, I think we can say that overall, it is + 15-20%, + 30-35% for Wii, -20-25% for Ps3 and + 30-35% for X360.

Either way - decent increases.

Your choosing multiple weeks in each query above.

Both the start and end week need to be the same week.

For PS3 week ending November 17th 2007 you want to use this query.

http://vgchartz.com/hwtable.php?cons%5B%5D=PS3&reg%5B%5D=America&start=39404&end=39404

This results in 96,546

Week ending November 10th

http://vgchartz.com/hwtable.php?cons%5B%5D=PS3&reg%5B%5D=America&start=39397&end=39397

This results in 79,539

Notice that is 176K.

Finally one week prior

This results in 55,446

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

@OP,

I've been doing this exact thing here, but for the entire holiday season.  I'll be adding some clarification to make it apparent which weeks have/had black friday.

Good idea, you just needed to do a bit more research was all.

 How can a week start and end on the same day?....

If for example say 1st of january was say a monday that would be the weeks start. Then the 7th was a sunday that would be the weeks end. It makes no sense at all having the week start and end on say the monday 1st etc.. from start to end has to be a 7 day gap.

@hyruken

The tool ask for first week end date and last week end date. So you choose the same date to reflect that the first week is the only week.
