After reading 15 pages of this stuff, I come to the conclusion that the PS3 is in a giant hole in which I doubt it could ever get out from. The fanboy comments back and forth, the laughs, and all that were a sight to behold, but the shocking truth is tha the console wars have arguably been decided as of today:

Wii>360>PS3, after I thought the PS3 would make a comeback. Another game was canceled for the PS3 this week (Destroy All Humans), and marketshare for the system keeps dwindling. Another thing that came to my mind was, "Kingdom Hearts 3 isn't going to the PS3, not when it is like this." The problem with al this doom and gloom is that it might make Nintendo lazy with all their success, but Microsoft and the 360 might offset that.

The point is, it is ironic that on Thanksgiving Day, Sony and the PS3 have NOTHING to be thankful for. Happy holidays.

Of course. Why would it? It'll be on the Wii ^_^

Exactly! There wasn't a doubt in my mind.......

wow, some really shocking comments in this thread lol. sony have lost this generation, but it doesn't mean they're out for good. if that was the case then nintendo shouldn't be here either. somebody mentioned in this thread that sony out of the gaming market is better for every gamer. that's just plain stupid. each of these companies make a console that appeals to somebody, that's why people are buying them. more competition = better for every gamer imo.

there will obviously be another generation of consoles, which i think will be far more competitive than this one.

Exactly. Sony may have started lazy but then they released some excellent games like Uncharted, LBP, Ratchet and Clank, Motorstorm are just to name a few.

End of '08 predictions (made by theprof00): PS3: 20m, 360: 23.5m, wii: 42m

Now Playin':  PS3|Resistance 2, LBP, Uncharted and Fifa 09, PSP| Ratchet and Clank: Size matters, 360| Gears of war 2 and Fallout 3.

Wonder how many of those publishers (and I would say Sony and Microsoft are making money on the software side anyway) will be approaching being in the black after 12/31/2008.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

Wtf are you talking about? Did you know that even gamecube was profitable? Nintendo has been pissing gold since it came to market(And before that as a toy company.). Sometimes it doesn't do it all the time, but hey it doesn't throw money for enlargement pumps etc.

(Hopefully you understand the figures of speech I am using here. :D)

wft are you talking about? what does my comment have to do with profits? people are saying in this thread that because sony are last that they are going to get kicked out of the market, and that the market would be better without sony. what i was saying was that if coming last meant you were relegated, then nintendo shouldn't be here. sony are down, but they're not out.

this gen is lost to them, but they aren't going anywhere.

I think his "comeback" refers to marketshare not profit as in going from "last place" to "first place". M$ was widely regarded as 2nd place last gen but we all know that they didn't make anything but losses in their gaming division last gen.

Also, to all the "ps3 is doomed" whistleblowers on these threads, I gotta ask you something: would you consider the ps3 dead if there was no other console to compare it to i.e if it was selling a steady 200,000 WW at $400 and there was no wii or 360?

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

Wow, 360 outsold the ps3 in NA by 100k. The wii did great as always in NA.

If memory serves me correctly, Microsoft has made over $500,000,000 this year (Q3 2007-Q3 2008), so that'd put them in the upper eschelons of profitable video game companies.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

can we get an updated version of that chart?
