Didn't you get the memo? The "year of the PS3" has been postponed to 2009 due to Killzone 2, GT5 and a price cut rumor from an anonymous source.

 

 

 The problem is here that europe (the people who buy racing games i.e me) are actually now really into the Forza series. I have no doubt GT5 will be fun but Forza 2 blew Pro-logue out of the water. Forza 3 is a real threat to the sales of GT5 so the fact both previous Forza's have been really high reviewed while the last few GT's have been pretty poor would make me believe my fellow British will most likely be buying more Forza 3's then GT5.

Killzone 2 i just laugh at. I watched a guy play it with my own eyes and instantly thought COD4 wannabe. It had nothing new, nothing genre breaking, really bland enviroments and awful AI. If you have pinned your hopes on KZ2 being the PS3 savour then that is laughable. Final Fantasy 13 maybe, that has a rich background, a lot of support, high reviews and respected history of massive sales. Were as Killzone 1 was to put it blunt a sack of shit. The last few years your hopes were pinned on Lair/Heavenly Sword/Warhawk/Resistance 1&2/Ratchet and Clank/Socom/Pro-Logue/Haze/Uncharted/Metal Gear 4/LittleBigPlanet etc.. etc... isn't it time you maybe looked at it and thought "hmm actually if none of those games did it why will KZ2 do it?"

I have no doubt in a few months time when the game is released it will get 70%-80% scores, maybe 85% if Sony have paid Gamespot and IGN again ;)

I don't get this whole change it attitude, you would know your position on this PS3/360 thing from 6 months ago. I made my prediction in April, and I stood by it even when the PS3 took it almost 200k into the red.

I got a signature to update.

P.S since every Xbox 360 sold has to include a Live membership and Wireless adapter the 360 obviously has FAR more revenue than the PS3.

It's official:

 

On November 26th, 2008 at around 6 pm Est, The PlayStation 3 is dead. According to well known experts, The 360 killed it with one shot of price drop to its head. We have over 17 million eyewitnesses and from what I hear, its not pretty. It is a sad day indeed, but we still have some gaming to do, I wonder who's going to buy the rest of the 135 million  Sony plan on producing.

Once again, the PS3 is dead.

People are being almost as ridiculous as they were when they said the PS3 had 2nd place locked when it was destroying the 360 months back.

More peoples friends will have 360's and this will cause the lead to grow (even with Sony dropping $100 sometime in 2009 and the 360 only dropping $50). These things tend to build on themselves. Add to this that consumers are growing less and less fearful of the RRoD because of Falcon and Jasper 360's. Add to this the availability of Blu-Ray players under $200 and propably under $150 (other than Black Friday) by mid 2009.

The 360 basically will have a 10 million seller every year in Xbox Live. The majority of renewals happen right about this time of year. MS is going to have a great 2nd quarter (MS fiscal year).

 

Publishers and developers are not going to be in full support of any console that doesn't have a large enough use base or sufficient sales throughout the year to support it.

@Gobias: I think it's not nearly as ridiculous. The key thing here is that any possible PS3 2nd place now has to happen so long from now that it won't matter even if it happens.

Just because things changed once doesn't mean we shouldn't reevaluate the situation using our brains.

Forza 2 saw significant manufacturer bundling. Prior to that, its sales weren't that great.
