I love it, sales numbers change around for a short time, suddenly the outcome of the entire gen is set in stone.

You people are hilarious.

I don't think it's the amount of time thats so surprising, I think its the amount in such a short period of time, and the fact the PS3 was already millions behind coming into its third year. Us people are just looking at things realistically

Doesn't look too good for the Wii being outsold by a several years older handheld and stagnating in Japan. On the flipside it is doing amazingly well in the US where the DS has failed to make much of a mark compared to the GBA and PS1/PS2.

Great sales for Ds Wii and 360, ps3 not so good i wonder if it wiil do better than last year during the holidays.

Why do people call it PS3 hate, its not hate. I think people here are just stating sales facts.

So when did a thread about American Sales become a thread about whether or not Sony as a whole would make money this quarter?

Please, keep the Sony bashing about financials in the proper thread.

Someone asked about PS4 and it kind of went from there. I agree that it's offtopic though.

@nightssurge.......................going from ur reasoning.......the 399 ps3 outselling the previously priced 360 obviously it proved more value to consumer............if sony manufactured ps3 with an even closer margain that was previous if u know what i mean........then it wud stand to reason according to wat u said regarding major ps3 price drop..........ps3e would again outsell 360

If they dropped the price another $100 down to $300, it would outsell the 360's $300 version easily, unless ofcourse we factor in momentum of the 360 as you like to talk about so much.  If the price cut comes too late, or isn't big enough, it won't matter.  If the PS3 drops price, and it starts affecting the 360's sales, they will drop the price again, thus putting Sony in an even bigger hole.

Also, Skee, in order for Sony to drop the price $100, they either a) take a huge $120+ loss per console again or b) gut the thing by taking out Wi-Fi, giving it a smaller HDD, or something else to lower the cost.  If Sony guts the PS3 to drop it down to the 360, what would it be?  A 360 with Blu-Ray and less games.  Add in the option of 360 users to get unlimited HD streaming for $9 a month (much cheaper than Blu-Ray), and I'm sure they will still choose the 360.

At this point, no matter what Sony does, MS can answer back and help dig Sony's grave a little bit deeper.

Could we please get back on topic of discussing the weekly sales in America this week?

Please?

Except it was mere months ago people were saying the PS3 had 2nd in the bag, even 360 fans were admiting it.

It's all bullshit in the end, someone will win eventually, everything we say on weekly sales threads pretty much turns out to be irrelevent, pointless yammering anyways.

As in go buy us some coffee.

Talking about prices is pretty related to sales I'd say.

@tabsina: Black Friday is one of the biggest shopping days in the US. Electronics and most other goods get bargain deals and bundles. Also, many stores open hours earlier than usual thus lengthening the shopping day.
