Makes sense to me though.
It gives a month after the retail hell that is December and helps keep numbers a little higher in the traditionally slow times I suppose.
There do seem to be a heck of a lot of Feb09 releases though

I wonder how will February ps3 sales look like in Japan with Yakuza (previous parts above 700k in Japan) and Street Fighter IV coming out. And it will already be hype building up for FF XIII (iirc it's march or april right?)

thats just the demo thats releasing with Blu-Ray of FF:Advent Children afaik
