Forums - Gaming - Will Killzone 2 be a system seller?

It is one of the most hyped and biggest games of 2009.It is big game for the PS3.Many websites like IGN and G4TV after playing the beta version have said that the game has the best graphics till date beating Crysis.I myself played the beta and I have to say it was incredible.Along with it Sony hasn't provided a price cut for over 1 and a half year and look to give PS3 a more competitive price with a cut of $50-100 next spring.Could this result in PS3's higher sales?

I think both Killzone 2 a blockbuster game in Feb 2009 and a price cut near that period would give PS3 a much needed boost and sales for the first couple of weeks could even compete with the monstrous Wii.Also the price cut will help the PS3 and its software sales more with other big tittles like FF13,GT5,God of War 3 and Unchated 2 likely releasing in 2009.

What do you guys think?

Definitely, but I've been told that sequels aren't really considered system sellers for some reason. Even after two people explained it to me, I still don't get it! o_O

*EDIT: Ha, just read the post below me. Now I remember...!

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Watch my insane gameplay videos on my YouTube page!

I don't think so, as those hard core FPS fans had already own a ps3

also this game might be over hyped just like R2
So KZ2 won't help much

The game will sell some consoles, but not as many as Sony would hope for. A price drop would help as well, but that is unlikely. Sony is taking the long road approach, and they will wait. Moreover, they cant afford to reduce the price on something they are already taking a loss on in times of economic difficulty.

Sony's gaming division is pretty much screwed for the forseeable future and Killzone 2 will not bail them out.

No, not really.

There might be a 5k boost, but people won't really be able to differentiate whether it is just a normal upswing in sales or a definite sales impact. I also think most people that want Killzone 2 already would have a PS3 by the time it came out.

I think for sony to be able to compete with the great Halo franchise which will also be releasing a game in february Sony needs to lower the cost of the Ps3 by atleast $50 bucks if not hundered.

Halo, Mario, GT5...those are system sellers. Regarding its popularity with most consumers, KZ2 is not on par with those games.

definitely without a doubt

I'm in the beta, and this is one of the best games I've ever played. The graphics are revolutionary, and the gameplay is addictive and fun. It reminds me of when HalfLife first came out. This game should cause that many waves. But in answer to your question: NOOOOOO!! This game will NOT sell!! I repeat, this very awesome game will NOT sell!!

Why? Because Sony owns the IP and hates to market good games. If this was on the 360, it would receive Halo 3 or GeOW hype. Unfortunately, Sony doesn't like advertising. If you really believe that this game will sell, you need to look at LBP and R2 numbers.

This game is absolutley fantastic! It deserves Burger King tie-ins and ridiculous slow-motion movie style commercials. Sony won't do it. They don't belive in pushing any one game. They think its 2002.

This game is absolutely fantastic and deserves to sell, unfortunately Sony is retarded.

it'd be nice if a price cut came with KZ2's launch, then we would see massive sales.
