So, since the discussion has changed from "Sony doesn't need Netflix, because who needs netflix!!!! I hate netflix and Xbox 360!!!" to "Woot, Sony can get netflix via a cheat, so we'll chance bans and become pirates for it!" can we concede one of two things?

A. The OP is completely off base on a number of issues, and more than that, sounds like a hypocritical immature biased forum goer.

or

B. Netflix sucks and means nothing, and thus the point of whether the PS3 can get it or not, is moot.

Please, just pick one. Don't try to have it both ways. Hatering can only get you so far. :P

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Zen, the method they speak of is not illegal.  It does cost like $30 though.  And it is pretty much a hack.

Yep. I have blockbuster online. Not all of us are pirates, and in fact, some of us are disgusted by pirates and think of them as nothing more than common criminals and petty thieves.

I'm better than a pirate. I know that much.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Love leads to jealousy. Jealousy leads to resentment. Resentment leads to hate. Wanting something you cannot have does not justify hating on that something. Microsoft has brought something very positive to their gold subscribers. The ability to rent packages rather then singular titles. This is going to save their members a lot of money. Even if you watch five movies a month that is significant savings.

Their customers now have the ability to see a lot of movies for very little money, and I got news for you. Sony has a conflict of interest that is hindering them. Calling on that conflict of interest is a poor strategy. They need to invest more into diversifying their offerings, and more to the point they should be looking at a movie subscription service for their console.

I didn't read past the topic title, to be honest with you. I was just assuming that the conversation would lead the the talking point of the possibility of streaming netflix through a PC/PS3 connection via an exploit that I assume breaks the nexflix UA. I'd imagine a much easier and cheaper solution would be to stream the content directly from your PC to your television.

Glancing at the posts, i can see I was right, however dissapointed that makes me.

This is without a doubt, one of the worst topics I've seen on this forum. It's a parody of itself, and were I to attempt to create a satirical thread about Fandom fodder and irrational thought, I would no doubt use this OP as the backbone for that epic thread.

I thought the PSN already offered movies for rental and purchase?

At the risk of going off topic but;

-Do you know of ANYONE who has lost their job over piracy?

-Has there been news of CEO's and higher-ups no longer making millions to billions a year that I am unaware of?

-Is everyone, including the billions in third world countries capable of paying for these services without selling their kidney's? Or should they be condemned for not adding another few bucks (which would risk their very survival) to the fat wallets of company CEO's already bathing in cash?

It's not who it effects, it's the quality of a person that would steal just because they can. Looters of the computer age. If you can't afford something, don't buy it. Especially if it is a luxury item, like a movie. I want a Super-Bowl ring, should I just go out and steal one of those?

Oh, the poor third world conutrymen who can't get netflix. Give me a break. The majority of these pirates are middle-class tweens who steal them because it's free.

They are taking advantage of the technology of our age, which isn't advanced enough to police itself.

I might not be much, but I don't steal from anyone, just because I can, no matter how rich they are.

I'm a better human being than that.

If you pirate, then pirate, I could care less. Just don't come complaining to me when I no longer respect you. It's the price you pay when you choose a life of meaningless and unnecessary thievery, which costs me and my friends rights and privelages that can't be bestowed upon everyone because there are people who would take advantage of it.

Pirating movies, music, games, anything like that, is stealing. It's robbery. It's unnecessary. It's meaningless and wrong. Don't you dare try to pretend it's the same thing as someone stealing a loaf of bread to feed their family.

Now, certainly, I pirated before. Napster. It was wrong, I was young, I didn't understand the world. I believe in redemption. However, I don't believe in piracy. I think it's wrong, and the people who do it should pay.

@Spankey

Do you not understand the difference between a subscription service, and a video store? A subscription service is a package deal. You pay a monthly fee, instead of individual rental fees. Netflix may be recognized, but there are other competing services. Many of which would greatly welcome a partnership with Sony. In fact thanks to the success of Netflix many of these services are waning. There is an opportunity for Sony to join forces with one of these smaller competitors.
