Forums - Sony Discussion - Killzone 2 will have no install...

...according to MotherH, the lead tester at Guerrilla Games:

http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=killzone2&view=by_date_ascending&message.id=69331#M69331

No install.  Optional or otherwise.

Also, there will be very limited loading for the singleplayer:

There are still separate levels, but we are going to keeps the in-game loading as invisible as possible through streaming.

It remains to be seen whether things will be completely seamless ala Uncharted.

Gotta love Sony's first party.  They're definitely the top of the heap when it comes to developing console games (from a technical standpoint).  :D

uncharted 2 will probability be the same, if they didn't make you install the first game, i don't see why the will make it the next game. wow another impressive graphically game that doesn't need to be install and will still run smooth, uncharted and killzone 2 prove installing isn't needed

1-time installs are nothing.

MGS4 installs can be frustrating when you're replaying random levels for fun.

Got love the family

What about for online? Don't you have to have something installed to get online in just about every game ever made?

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

It makes me wonder why mgs4 required so many installs anyway. I mean, the graphics and the AI weren't leaps and bounds beyond Uncharted, which didn't require installs. Maybe Kojima's team didn't know exactly how to optimize the hardware yet.

Socom and Killzone on the ps2 had no problems with this. :P

Though I'm sure there will be patches at some point.  ^_^

so they are going to do like R* did in GTASA. I wont argue.

I wish there will be atleast an optional install. I'd take any soft of loading/streaming advantage possible.

^ If it's like Uncharted, what could be improved? ;)

Even the multiplayer beta's load times aren't that bad, and the retail build should be much more optimized. Singleplayer will be a whole nother story.
