According to the mod on the official eu playstation forums, any body that doesn't get into the open beta now will 'be here' before christmas.

"For those of you interested, the first batch of invites was targetted at a percentage of people who had downloaded something from the Store. Its nothing to do with number of posts in the forums.
The next batch is largely based around active gamers, ie those who have logged into a SCEE hosted game in the last couple of months.
Again its not everyone, for those who dont get an invite Open Beta will be here before Christmas."

It should deffienatly be out before the year is up. The stress test this week went rather smooth, so things should have no reason to go off schedual. Next week is supposed to be a stress test to the Mall area, and after that nothing else has really been mentioned. I would not be to suprised to see it go into open beta the first week of December. If not by then I think it will be days, not weeks before we see it go open.

I think the biggest question is how will they open it? Will they release a firmware update that places PSHome in the PSN section, and then make it like LWP was? Or are they going to have it in the store just for those that want to download it during the beta period? Personally I would love to see a firmware update as mentioned before, along with the most requested feature on the PS3, Persistant voice chat.
