Forums - Nintendo - do retailers dislike nintendo?

well perhaps not dislike but not understand. When showing off games in their store they always show off HD games. for both QoS and COD:WaW the new release section was dedicated entirely to 360 and PS3 versions of the game. most of the stores i visited didnt even have any copys of the wii verions of most multiplats. Is this why wi games mostly only sell well when there are exclusives? hopfull this is the case as most promising gmaes in the wii's future are wii exclusive.

OK this is getting out of hand, WHAAAT?!! Retailers dont like Nintendo, the Wii? WHAT?!! No seriously...

About WAW its Activision that done this not the retailers. If they knew there's a COD WAW wii available they will put it on the front of their gaming shelves even that version is inferior.

When the generation started, Nintendo had small retail space in the back of the Saturns I frequent. Nowadays, it has the most retail space of all game systems in the very front where everyone can see.

So to answer your question: no.

I cant see any reason why they wouldnt like the Wii... if anything they would love it as it has people reserving it months in advance and Qing up overnight just for a chance to get one before xmas.

I can't remember how many countless times I have walked into a retailer and heard a conversation as follows:

PARENT: I would like to buy a console for my family and I don't know what too buy.
RETAILER: Is anyone a heavy gamer in your family?
PARENT: Yes, my kid is but, I want everyone to enjoy it.
RETAILER: Buy a Wii.

No criteria except that if it is for everyone buy a Wii... No talk about HD TV, no talk about playing music, no talk that PS3 and 360 have games like Rockband and Guitar Hero. Just if it is for everyone buy a Wii.

Meanwhile the only time the conversation goes 360 or PS3 is when the parent says "My kid is a gamer and we are buying it for him only".

Retailers favor the Wii they don't shun it. It is "if in doubt buy a Wii".

Of course they are going to only advertise QoS and COD:WaW on the HD Consoles. The target market for those types of games are there. See something like Guitar Hero that has the target market pretty evenly spread amongst all three consoles.

I disagree with you there, its the third party publishers who decide which game the retailers will sell,  if retailers have their way they will put all Wii games in the front of the shelves because thats what sells the most. Most retailers even dont knew thae Wii version of COD WAW had been released. SO thats the proof...

I believe that lends credence to his semi-correction, then. Maybe they just don't understand it.

The BuShA owns all!

ok i admit it was a stupid thread title. i just kinda did it becos of that third partys hate wii thread. but my main point still stands that i think wii multiplats would sell much better if they were pushed as hard as the HD parts. This has happened with shaun white and guitar hero. i still dont think the wii version could have got numbers anynear the HD version but they might not have been as appaling

It all depends on whats coming out... I remember Super Mario Galaxy and SSBB were always displayed. Of course now, theres no AAA games out for the Wii so retailers are going to display the better games that are out now for the HD consoles.
