hi, I have a pc with a procesor amd athlon x2 dual core 5200+, 4 gb of ram at 800 mhz with dual chanel, a mb gigabyte ga-m61pme-s2, and a video card powercolor x1550 with 512mb gddr2 128 bit and 1gb of hyper memory with 512mb gddr2 vram, all runing in windows xp and still the best i got for crysis is the lowest resolution posible.

how can i improve the performance of my machine? do I need a diferent graphs card or is something else the problem?

(by the way, the card only cost around 70 USD)

The graphics card is certainly your bottleneck here.

There are several cards out right now for $150 and less that would give you a tremendous boost in Crysis.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

Go to www.newegg.com

type in HD 4670 in search

Buy.

I use one and its pretty awesome for the price, you know it'll work and you don't have to worry about your power supply not having a 6 pin PCI-E adapter. It costs about $70 too!

If you know you have a 6 pin PCI-E power plug and you want to spend a little extra money I suggest the HD 4830 for $130-40 or the 9600gt/9800gt for between 90 and 120.

Tease.

I can run Crysis in medium mode and all the specs you have are better then mine except the graphics card (well I think mines better, I have a 8500 GT 512 MB). So it must be your graphics card.

I'm new in this of building a computer from scrach.

¿how can i know if a card is good for games?

the one I bougth, i bought it for the 512mb and still seems insufficient to wath I need.

wath should I look for when buying a card?

@Squilliam

I live in mexico so i cant buy from the page you give me.

i search in the equivalent of ebay and found this:

http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.mx/MLM-24822148-radeon-hd4670-512mb-gddr3-hdcp-pci-e-nuevas-a-credito-br8-_JM

the prices are around 150USD, you think they are a good invesment?

Why don't you buy directly from eBay?

http://cgi.ebay.com/Sapphire-Radeon-HD-4850-512MB-GDDR3-DX-10-1-retail_W0QQitemZ200277078288QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPCC_Video_TV_Cards?hash=item200277078288&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2|65%3A15|39%3A1|240%3A1318

That's the one I have, I use it with a cheap 500w supply, and runs like a charm.

In case you can't buy from eBay, there are users in PC enthusiasts forums that import stuff, like in this one: http://www.darkclockers.com/

They cost $70 so no, not really! :/

Im not sure how to help, since the prices are out of wack.

This'll give you some idea of how good each video card is.

I found this card:

Would it be able to handle recent games at normal detail at least?
