Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Can the 360 outsell the Wii this Christmas?

did you see NPD?

it was 810K for wii
vs 387K for 360 despite 360 being cheaper than wii

I wasn't exactly asking if it would outsell the wii, more to the point, how it could.  What kind of bundle, price cut, etc... would it take for this to happen.

I understand there is a very slim chance of this happening and I am under no delusions that it will.

That's just it, aside from some ridicules price point setup that would never occur in real life, it isn't possible.

I would think the Wii would have to remain at $250 while the 360Pro was in the range of $100-$150 for this to happen. Thing is that will never happen. Nintend would obviously drop the price way before then.

Boy the 360 would be selling a lot of units. It would break thirty-five million by the end of the fiscal year easy.

not yet, we're still waiting for the wii fad to end. 2009 will be rough for the wii with no big games. Christmas 2009 I can see the wii getting owned.

but as for christmas 2008 the wii is gonna win

nah, the wii will have a fantastic year 2009, maybe its getting worse after that, but nobody can tell. The wii now is hip, and its not because of the games, its because of the wii itself. Wii buyers usually dont buy it for rpg game x or sports game y, they usually are just morons who want to swing with a stick in wii sports or wii fit. Its totally beyond me, but its the way it is. And im not talking about the die hard ninty fans who only want to see some better games on their system, they deserve better...

Casual gaming might be something nice for the devs (although nobody except for nintendo did profit), but it sucks for the average gamer.

Yeah and PS360 buyers usually are just nerds who play shooters and RPG instead of having a social/sexual life. Come on dude grow up!

On topic, there is no chance X360 outsell the Wii this christmas or anytime this gen. The branding of the Wii is too strong now and could'nt be reversed. 2009 would probably be a more sucessful year than 2008 in term of sales and games for the Wii so I really don't see X360 outsell Wii in 2009 either.
