Forums - Sales - The most idiotic thing you can say?

Yes it is a redundant question, because as we all know just when you think you have heard the most idiotic thing. Someone shows up and says something that makes the last thing seem halfway intelligent. However it occurs to me that the blind defenders of the PS3 have actually spawned a few entirely counter productive arguments while making their case. Equally disturbing is they are not catching on to the fact the other console loyalists are actually encouraging them to say these supremely stupid things. I ask me fellow forum members for their thoughts on this, and more importantly which of the following is actually the most idiotic of the bunch. Mind you I am paraphrasing the sentiment not quoting any user in particular.

Argument 1.

Unless Sony get off their asses and cut the price soon the console is dead. Sony needs to cut prices this holiday season or it is over. The 360 is beating the PS3, because it is half the price. I am unsure what is even the logic here. You are a booster for a console, and then you refer to it dying if something specific does not happen. Where is the spin. Hell where is the common sense. Do you actually expect your console of choice to sell if you imply that it is going to blow up in any way shape or form? Simply brilliant all the other guy has to do is agree with you, and add to it. Now everyone agrees the console is doomed.

Argument 2.

Everyone relax things will change when Sony cuts the prices on the PS3 in sixty or ninety days. This is brilliant lets convince prospective buyers to hold back in the hope that they can save a hundred dollars. I am dumbfounded isn't the goal of arguing your case us that they need to buy it right now. The goal is to have them on your side not sitting on the fence. For those that own a PS3, and have argued for it the last two years has this actually helped the PS3. No it has not it made people adopt a wait and see attitude during which time the consoles sales slumped.

Argument 3.

Stand alone BluRay players are much cheaper then a PS3 now. Which side are you on exactly the consoles or the format. Let us ignore the fact that you may have sold someone on something else. Do you even realize that a BluRay player plus any other console is equally viable now. You should be saying the console is the best player on the market. Do you even know how many people bought the console just to watch movies?

Anyway the zest cannot be denied, but all these arguments play against the objective to see the PS3 succeed. They are all arguments made by die hard supporters of the console that actually chase away any potential consumer they may sway. Further more you are making a united front against the console. I guarantee that this nonsense has chased away hundreds if not thousands of potential consumers who peruse these forums daily. You have them scared, cautious, and seriously considering buying another product entirely.
