Does everyone remember the .hack series?   They have the .hack GU which i havn't played yet, but i just started to think  what's stoping them from making a real MMO based on the .hack world. If you're gonna simulate an mmo, why not eventually actually make it into one. It been quite a while now this was a ps2 era day where online for consoles were still unheard of except for everquest and FFXI pioneering. Now it would be pretty easy. I would have to get it for pc still though unless is was ps3 exclusive.

course I remember, great anime series. sure, i'd love to see an MMO of it. make it for consoles, PS3 i'd be guessing.

maybe I'm just saying that cause I'm an otaku... but I want one.

MMO's im waiting for are Rapture and Blade and Soul.....but if they make a .hack one....that would be a must buy.

I remember the idea of the anime, where they went into that fake world (which was pretty awesome), but I don't remember the intricacies of how the MMO world worked.

Does this mean that someday I can live in the pokemon world?!?!?!! :P

If I remember correctly, in one of the series there was a scene where a person was wearing a helmet and holding a PS2-like controller. I remember that I was amused by that because of how complex the actions of the characters were in the game. There is no way a simple controller could accomplish that and there were hints that there is some kind of more psyhic/subconscious connection to the game. So dont expect a .hack MMO just like in the anime, most likely a MMO with key locations and characters.

You guys need to check out the movie Avalon by Mamoru Oshi. It's live action unlike most of his work.  While your at it check out the Red Spectacles just for the sake of killzone 2 coming out soon. Same director.

There actually was a .hack MMO made called .Hack//Fragment but it was only available to be played in Japan. Strangely they took the servers offline and to-date have no intention of restarting them again.

It sounds awesome, maybe some day, but id prefer to see how Blade & Soul turns out.
