Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Making New Characters?

Australia, July 30, 2007 - According to a recent interview with Shigeru Miyamoto, Dean Takahashi of the Mercury News reports that Nintendo may be on the verge of revealing a new franchise, along the lines of how they launched Pikmin as a significant new game series for the company.

The telling quote: "Maybe next year sometime, we may have new characters in the same way we came up with Pikmin when we introduced the GameCube." It's not the most unlikely of revelations, but it's nice to hear he's been scribbling away on the old sketchpad.

Miyamoto-san helped develop Wii Fit, but surely he's been tinkering on the side with new, innovative concepts for more traditional games. Pikmin was grand, so we're already drooling at the prospect of a new Miyamoto-steered gaming experience. Roll on, 2008.

No surprise there. If you weren't expecting Nintendo to come out with a new characters, you were kidding yourself.

blargh. slip of the mouse.

To cash in my CC rewards points for $300 in Circuit City gift cards to purchase a 360 or not: That is the question.

OHHH NO3Z!!!1one1!!!!  MIYAMOTO IS ONLY MAKING GAMES FOR THE CASUAL GAMOERZZUHZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111!!!!!

But seriously this is expected awesome news. If Nintendo is putting out the Big 3 this year, and they put Zelda out last year, what else would the have for the rest of Wii's life? New IP's.

It's like Wierd Al, every time he comes out with a new album they call it a come back, and he says, "I never went anywhere."

Nintendo never stopped making new IPs, Nintendo Wars, Pikmin, Chibi Robo, etc.

Both can sell 1million copies, and people look at it like it's a failure. Meanwhile Shiggy and Al both are taking baths in golden Jacuzzis.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Like LL said / Don't call it a comeback / And face the fact Jack / I'm all that
?

Y'know, I never really cared much for Pikmin. It was decent, at best, IMO.

Good to hear that it has been semiannounced, although, as mentioned earlier, they are constantly making new IPs

Can't wait to see what they're cooking up.

Since they bought Monolith, I'm hoping it's a new big RPG with a good assortment of herbs and spices. :)

Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.
