6. x360 is more than 2 times cheaper. Still they compete. Imagine if they had the same price tag - the days of PlayStation are numbered >- Yeah ok

Unfortunately that's all you can do.

Still they compete, and probably they will never have the same price tag. When the PS3 will be at 199$ the x360 will be at 59$. Thats the only way they can win. M$ knows this and they r doing it

I feel like screaming everytime I hear a Sony fan[boy] bang on about how the 360 is half the price of PS3 yet they compete and what would happen if they were the same price and bla bla bla.

First it is not half the price.  Hardly anyone buys the arcade.

Secondly, PS3 fans are the ones always going on about how the PS3 is greater value for money.  If it is greater value for money then of course its sales should compete even though it cost more.  For example look at the new 3 and 5 series BMWs.  Last gen here in the UK the 3 series were everywhere and almost like the most common car.  5 series were not very common.  Understandably as the 3 series looked much better.  This time around the 5 series looks much better and is the much better car in other ways.  It costs about £5,000 to £10,000 more (for the entry levels - at the top end the gap is even much bigger) but what has happened?  The 5 series sells way more than the 3 series.  Most people would rather pay the extra £5,000 to get the better car.  Random example but you get what I mean.  If a 360 Premium costs £170 and a PS3 £280 but the PS3 is the greatest value for money thing ever to grace the videogame industry (as Sony fans seem to indicate) people should be much more willing to pay the extra £110 for this amazing item.

Third who the hell cares which costs more?  Sony chose to make an expensive console.  They knew it would compete with the 360 when they were setting the price (they were probably too arrogant to think it would compete with Wii).  Will you people please come back to reality and stop imagining either a different PS3 or a PS3 as it is but for much less.  Neither of these scenarios is reality.  The first is not reality because the PS3 is out and it is what it is.  The second is not reality because the losses on a £170 PS3 would kill Sony.

First and most important, speaking of the truth makes you a fanboy, ok. Second dont get upset, this is the internet, atleast try to hide ur fanboyism. Third, consoles are not cars. Cars are bought by Men, consoles are mostly bought by kids. For a little kid aged 10-17 £110 are a lot of money. As for a £170 PS3 i know it would kill Sony, thats why it will never happen.

But... but... just imagine if it had BluRay and the Cell and cost the same or less than the competitors that didn't include such things!   Imagine how much it would sell then!

So it will eventually make up a 5 million gap huh, so the 360 will still have an 860,000 lead, sweet.

 Sweet!

Microsoft and their price cuts are just delaying the unevitable end. X360 is at its peak right now and will start going downhill next year, while PS3 will probably get the latest peak of all three consoles.

Around spring 2009 I expect a bunch of gaming Eee PCs. Those machines will be priced around $299 -$399, will have very modern design, fast Dual (some months later Quad-) core processors, and a highperformance GPU easily able to kill the graphics of a PS3. These gaming Eee PCs probably will have a lot of impact on PS3 sales figures.

Technically closer to 6 million at the moment. Just about what it was from the go. Don't really see it happening and if it does it will be a long time from now probably well into nextgen.

I think it is a bit like this.

X360 seems like it is going to peak in either 08 or 09, so 3rd or 4th year.

Wii seems like it is going to peak in 09 or 10, so 3rd or 4th year.

Ps3 should peak in 09 or 10 too, so 3rd or 4th year

DS is going to peak in 08 or 09, which is 4th or 5th year.

Ps2 peaked in its 3rd year, remember that.

That is VGChartz LONGEST review. And it's NOT Cute Kitten DS

What is unevitable end exaclty ?

- 5.6 millions unit gaps

- 50 % games sales difference

... you see what I'm saying ?

A lot of PS3 users have an opinion on how Sony could close the gap on the install base (...ok nice), but nothing on the poor sales figures for the games and online content.

Could we talk about that for a change ??????

Cause If I let myself a bit to anti-fanboyism, I would say that the sales of the PS3 are still driven by the BR users... not the players.

Comments, thank you..

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

I think we will have a much better idea of how the 360 - PS3 fight is going to turn out by the end of 2009, as historically next year ought to represent a big drop for 360, and PS3's best year. If PS3 can do it next year, it will probably pull away during the rest of the gen. But if PS3 doesn't do it next year, it could be a long crawling race to the finish.

(but the wii ought to peak the latest; the peak in year three rule is for non-first place consoles)
