Forums - Gaming - Most powerfull next gen console?

Good lord, Answer the question enstead of getting wrapped up in fanboy hot air, Was he saying "mines bigger than yours" no, he is asking "who is going to have the biggest". Everyone thinks theirs is the biggest this gen so why bother

assumption is the mother of all f**k ups

numbers never lie. ps3 its the most power console this generation.

i don't think m$ will go for the controller, more like power.

they are software company their experience in hardware it not so good.

come on they fixed their dpad 2 + years after released, well thats software company phylosophy, release, patch later.

Most likely all three will be near rough parity.

Less of a leap for Sony, largest leap for the Wii, which will probably focus on providing the most technical improvements for the least amount of money in the interest of being able to sell consoles mass market cheap while still making a decent profit on each one. Not a bad strategy as opposed to pouring R&D funds into a console that has to be sold at a loss for more than most are willing to pay.

My guess for MS is that it will most likely just keep in tune with current PC architecture trends, customized slightly in the interest of making the boxes cheaper to mass produce. In effect, it will be an ultra-cheap gaming PC, manufactured and marketed by MS, capable of playing all current games for Windows in a proprietary Xbox format.

I am not talking about the current generation.I am talking about the next gen which will be released next decade. This gen it was the PS3 which had the most powerfull system but so far it is trailing the other two in sales.Nintendo have said that their next console will be an HD gaming unit. But the pattern of sales during the last couple of gens have shown that not the most powerfull console always wins the gen.We saw it last gen when XBOX was more powerfull than PS2 but it lost but considering the fact that the Xbox was the first console from Microsoft and didn't have any brand name before it.This gen we have all seen Sony struggle and the least powerfull console from Nintendo has won so far but the time will only tell who is the winner is this gen.

Here the question comes that will the big three go for the most powerfull or the most inovative console next gen?

Also which will be the most powerfull?

The PS3 has a lousy disc read speed, less general purpose RAM and a GPU that is basically even with what the 360 has under the hood. It isn't the most powerful system hardware wise in several key areas and overall I think it is inferior to the 360. That being said, I think that if Sony has a shred of business sense left they will introduce the PS4 before the next gen Xbox, for a lower price point and with less powerful hardware. I think the next Xbox may have the most powerful hardware unless Sony gets it wrong again and Microsoft produces a cheaper system to more effectively compete with Nintendo. As far as innovation goes, I don't think changing the controller, upgrading the online service, etc... are innovations worth mentioning. The greatest innovations come from the game developers, not the hardware manufacturers.

MS will merge with Nintendo and they will rule the universe. We will see versions of Halo with Ninty characters alongside them, the new Mario and Snake adventures will be a blast and Super Smash Brothers Universe will have every game character know to man in it. One console to rule them all will be the tag line in commercials….

Microsoft isn't in this business for the games, or even to compete directly. What they want is to eliminate or mitigate competion with the Windows-based PC, from the livingroom.

They won't drop out next gen, and they won't try to tackle the high-end again. They want the Wii's marketshare -- because the Wiimote is too dang close to being a mouse for their comfort, especially when coupled with a USB keyboard. Consoles are nothing more than personal computers -- prepackaged and non-modular, unlike PCs, but the average user could care less about PC modularity.

Microsoft knows where the competition is, in the future, and its not from Linux. They will copy the leader (right now: Nintendo, and the family market), and make sure that the Microsoft option is always present and influencial.

Sony will have the most powerful console in the next gen, because their business plan aims toward the high-end gamer and electronics user/owner, not OS conquest.

"Yep stopped reading here to. There is no proof of this. Dont speal off Cell figures either. It's the entire system as a whole that eminates the final production. And if you believe the statement you made, then why is the 360 having no trouble keeping with it, and currently (of games that are available to buy) have the most impressive technical and visual game?"

Because it doesn't have the most impressive technical and visual game. Metal Gear Solid 4 is still just as high. One thing about the 360 though that limits it off the bat is disc space. You see they can choose to have a visually impressive game, but by making it too visually impressive, they limit other features such as story or gameplay elements to the simplistic side of things. Gears I is a good example. It is take cover, peak out, shoot, take cover, peek out, throw a grenade, etc, and it doesn't give you a 20+ hour game with rich cinemas. On the other hand in Uncharted you have these game mechanics, many more, and a very rich, long story making it the better all around game instead of the diva darling of the pundits.

What shooting game gives you 20 hours plus gameplay?????

Blue ray isnt a big deal, you can probaly get 10 DVD disc for the price of 1 blue ray disc.

Deus Ex took me more than 20 hours to complete my first time through :P

But seriously, Blu-Ray will become less expensive as time passes and currently it is unlikely that it is ten times as expensive as regular DVD's (I could be wrong though).
