Forums - General - Need quick math help! D:

Hey guys, it's a bit silly to ask this, but can anyone explain me how to get this:

?

I have the answer, yeah, but if I can't remember how to do it exactly during an exam, I'm screwed!

Thanks in advance!

Well I'm no genius in math and I could be wrong but by the looks of it you just multiplied 3 and 2 and that gave you 6 and just leave the devide next to 6 (for some reason?) and for the second part just do 2 devided by a half or .5 and you get 4

Does that make sense?

well, if you put the 2 back into the root1/2, you'll get root2 then you rationalize,

root2 multiplied by root2 is 2
1 multiplied by root2 is root2
root 3 multiplied by root2 is root 6
2 multiplied by 2 is 4

i hope you understand this

Edit**

okey, that was a bad explanation.

uhm, since the first term is a fraction, and you are dividing by radical, you can put the radical over 1, thus making it into a multiplication operation.

then you have to put the 2 back into the root 1/2. that is done by squaring the coefficent (2), then multiplying by the radical. this will give you root2 (2 squared is 4, multiplied by 1/2 is 2).

the only problem you have now is that your second term is not rationalized, but your answer is. to rationalize your answer, simply multiply the denominator and numerator by the denominator. so it would be root 2 times root2 (which is 2) and 1 times root2 (which is root2)

the last step now is to times the fractions. so root3 times root2 is root 6, and 2 times 2 is 4. that is how you get the answer.

If you multiply pi by your stupidity you won't make a circle. No offense.

Yep, got it! Thanks!

I've been doing math non-stop starting from 1 PM to now. I guess I should just take a break if I can't do something as simple as that! xD
