I'm getting ready to get a TV this next month, just in time to play Metroid Prime 3. I know that the Wii is not a high def system, but I still want a good TV that is, as they say, future proof.

I had been hearing that the Wii looks best on a Plasma set, but after talking to Best Buy today they recommended I stay away from Plasma because of their tendency to burn in.

I don't want to spend more than $1500. I want a 42 inch. Anyone have any suggestions?

Hate to say this, but with a purchase like that, I doubt the games you want to buy will be the cause of you going broke this year...

Lol...too true...I was thinking around $1,000....but after talking to some people today I don't know if that's realistic....my gf is leaning toward the higher end of 1500, but she always forgets about tax...btw, i've never bought a nice tv in my life...the last one i got was a daewoo 27" from Target 3 years ago for $150. So yeah, this is a bit of a purchase for me. Maybe I should do something more constructive with my money than play Metroid.

Hmm, I don't think HD TV is a good idea for a Wii. I've seen Wii sports on LCD and believe me it looks really really messy... If such simple graphics looks messy I don't want to know how Metroid will look like... Probably Plasma is a better choice.

There can be lots of jaggies for games on HDTV's but honestly all you have to do is change the settings accordingly.

When my buddy got his new HDTV we played Smash Brothers Melee via the Wii and he adjusted his TV and the game looked GREAT! So much so in fact that I personally gained a lot more respect for the games graphics overall.

I have my Wii hooked up to a Sharp Aquos LCD with component cables. The upscaling is great. All of my Wii games have looked pretty. Especially cell shaded games like Paper Mario and Big Brain Academy. Hell, Excite Truck looked damn near HD on it.

My End of 2008 Hardware Predictions (console only):

Wii : 50 million

360: 28 million

PS3: 24 million
