Forums - Gaming - What the **** is up with Gametrailers reviews?

Game scores should be removed from the game reviews. Then we would have no arguments anymore.

Why are people defending their reviews? It's not the reviews themselves I'm taking an issue with here :/ Did you guys read the opening post?

Depends how you look at it.  You might feel the scores are incorrect in comparison to the review, but perhaps the score is accurate and the review is just poorly written.  Do they formulate a score and then write a review based on that score?  Do they do the opposite, or are they completely independent?  To be honest, a lot of times it seems the third option is true.

I played the demo and thought the game was great, i have yet to watch the review but i will do that later. I will also be playing the full game later this weekend. But GT really do suck with their reviews, the videos are pretty interesting to watch and hear what modes are in the game, but their opinions are useless.

What is interesting about it is that the guys from Gametrailers never really play the game and review it. They have freelancers of that. Everytime when their is a new game they let it play by a few freelancers those freelancers send their opinion/score to GT and GT makes a videoreview from it. I wonder how other sites do that.

I like GT reviews :(

Game reviews are useless: games such as: Spore, Little Big Planet, GTA IV, Crysis and Halo 3 just to name a few get over inflated review scores that they do not deserve.
Spore and LBP are just level editor games. Spend 12 hours to make a 4 minute level to play through, big deal. Repeat process over and over = unlimited game play.
GTA IV was a horrible game driving around for hours and hours and having to babysit your cousin.
Crysis and Halo 3 what can I say over rated shooters. Crysis deserved a 7 and Halo 3 deserved a 8 maximum. Halo 3 was a terrible end to the great Halo series.

Couldn't really agree more.

The sad thing is that it won't happen for marketing reasons, but even sadder is the fact that a single number means more to gamers nowadays than the reasons leading up to that number.

Remove the numbers and the reader will least give the man who wrote the review a fair go instead of mainly criticising him by just seeing the final score without reading the reviews.

Some of the best articles are the ones that are more critical of popular games but provide a detailed analysis about the game.

I find meself going to GiantBomb to read/watch reviews. They dont have a numerical scoring system and all their reviews are from hardcore gamers with a sense of humour.
