Since the late N64/PS1 era, no other western developed game, or western franchise was able to sell 500k or more. Japanese have lost interest on western developed franchises. SNES was probably the best platform for them, since theres a plethora of games selling well, not over 500k though.
Still, western developed games can do good in Japan or at least they could once upon a time.
Who knows what's the best selling Japanese game in the West?
