People always said the XBox and Gamecube would sell more than the PS2 later in their life because of their better hardwar; it didn't happen. The PS3 will (likely) hit the important $200 price point in 2010 or 2011 which will be a great opportunity for Nintendo to release a system that is (roughly) 5 to 10 times as powerful as the PS3, with an advanced Wiimote, for $200 ... Edit: CrazzyMan, many of those games you have listed have games already announced for the XBox 360 and Wii and very few are ensured to be exclusives (being that most of the games are developed by third parties)
That was people's mistake. It is about games and always have been about games. The bad thing about the 64 and the gamecube is that they were restrictive. Besides out of 55 titles crazzyman listed only 8 make their way to the 360. Great way to downplay selection. and StarcraftManiac Soul calibur III was only for PS2 (Shame because I preffered GC controller for that game) and there are rumors stating that 4 will be exclusive as well.

Out of the 55 titles crazzyman how many have been shown in a playable form and are within 6 months of being released? In 1995 I could have written a list of over a hundred games which were released on the SNES and one could expect on the N64; guess which system ended up with many of those games? A game is not an exclusive (with the exception of first and second party titles) until it has been released.

Change subject? You said many. There are a few going to other consoles. The majority of that list btw are either first or second party titles so that pretty much breaks you arguement down. The devs have stated that they are working on these titles so I have no reason to believe that they are vapor ware. Nice try though

Nice list CrazzyMan lets go through it: Tekken (good fighter but will it sell systems? I mean VF5 failed...) Virtua Fighter (for xbox360 also, didn't improve sales in japan, so why should it do it in USA?) Soul calibur (is this exclusive? 100% sure?) Gran Turismo (will sell systems as hell here in europe I think) Jack dexter (don't know if it is a system seller) God of war (should move the hardcore Sony fans to next gen at least. Anybody know when number three is out?) Wild arms (Never heard of actuly any good?) Front Mission Metal Gear Solid (earliest 2008?) Z.O.E Resident Evil (For xbox360 also, sells most in USA? If so why not buy a cheaper system and more games?) Silent Hill Devil May cry (Good) Final Fantasy (Japan rejoce will move systems BUT earliest 2008 I think, right or wrong?) Kingdom Hearts Medal Of Honor (Xbox360 also?) Ridge Racer (RR7 at least failed to move system in both USA and Japan so I have hard to see this game as a system seller) Tales of ... (Is it only sony that gets tales games? I thought it come from an thired party dev, have seen tales game to DS so why not Wii?) Disgaea Valkyrie profile Persona Grand Theft Auto (if their is anybody who have missed that this game is coming to Xbox360 also I would be surprissed) Burnout (Great game) Onimusha Ace Combat Ratchet and Clank Xenosaga Killzone (Can it beat the awsome fps game line Xbox360 has? Halo 3 hasn't even arrived yet) Guitar Hero (well 360 get number two soon) Metal slug (so has Wii) Shadow of colossus (have they announced a sequal?) Armored Core Star ocean Spyro (ehh belive that even the gamecube had this game, am I wrong?) Breath of fire Chrono ... Grandia Rogue Galaxy (only GC before or am I wrong?) Wipeout Genji Getaway And new titles: White Knight Story Resistance (al ready out doesn't show a system seller approach yet) Lair MotorStorm (failed in japan but I have heard that the EU version should be better so mayby) Heavenly Sword Afrika Heavy Rain Warhawk (thought this was cancelled, might be wrong) Monster Kingdom Uncharted: Drake`s Fortune Eight Days L.A. Noire WarDevil: Enigma Ni-Oh Some great games here, but honestly I actuly think that the two big games arrives a little bit late to turn the tid totaly, a fight into the last of victory this time?

Since being bought by microsoft, and made into a first party developer. they no longer have access to the nintendo owned licenses. therefore they are unable to create further DK country games. nintendo owns that license and can task another developer with continuing the series. the perfect dark and conker franchises are rare-owned IPs. therefore rare can continue the development of those franchises on microsoft platforms now. [perfect dark zero]. gears of war is an epic owned IP, but the first gears of war game was partially funded by microsoft. epic entered into a second party relationship with microsoft for the creation of that one game. epic cant just take the finished gears product to any other console now. it is quite possible for epic to decline a second party relationship with microsoft and bring a sequel to multiple platforms however.

To be a SECOND PARTY TITLE it has to be published by SCE Tekken - Namco - Third Party Soul calibur - Namco - Third Party Wild arms - I appologize ... first party title Front Mission - Squaresoft- Third Party Metal Gear Solid - Konami- Third Party Z.O.E - Konami- Third Party Devil May cry - Capcom- Third Party Final Fantasy - Squaresoft- Third Party Kingdom Hearts - Squaresoft- Third Party Tales of ... - Namco - Third Party Disgaea - Nippon Ichi Software- Third Party Valkyrie profile - Squaresoft- Third Party Onimusha - Capcom- Third Party Ace Combat - Namco - Third Party Xenosaga - Namco - Third Party Star ocean - Squaresoft- Third Party

Square Enix Said that Kingdom Hearts might not be on the PlayStation 3. I think it's gonna come out on Wii... (great Squeenix-Nintendo relationships *FFIII, FF12:RW, DQ9 etc...) and the Wii-mote would be awesome. (also for those who say "The first two titles were on PS2 so this will be on PS3" just think of Final Fantasy... every game until FF7 was on Nintendo Platforms) And some exclusive Wii titles... (dunno if someone has said these) 3rd Party Disaster: Day Of Crisis Sadness Guitar Hero Wii Dragon Quest Swords Final Fantasy CC: CB Red Steel 1 & 2 Sonic and the Secret Rings Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles Super Monkey Ball Elebits Dewy's Adventure SSX: Blur Godfather: Blackhand Edition No More Heroes Forever Blue Godzilla: Unleashed Raid Over The River Hail to the Chimp Detective Conan Orb 1st and 2nd Party Super Mario Galaxy Super Smash Bros Mario Strikes Charged Pokemon Battle Revolution Project H.A.M.M.E.R Zelda TP Metroid Prime 3: Corruption Starfox (Possibly..) Mario Party 8 Super Paper Mario Animal Crossing Wii Fire Emblem Excite Truck Wii Play Wii Health Pack Wii Music Orchestra And some untitled projects (Kojima etc) Aren't they just enough? (for exclusives)

"the developer is its own independent entity. but in terms of the projects that they work on, they assume first party priviledges as far as funding, licensing and publishing from the console manufacturer. the console then gets exclusivity rights to the game they develop." Not really. It is and/or. Take for instance the Final Fantasy's. You have seen spin-off's but why haven't the numbered sequels ('cept for MMO) hit other consoles? Contractual obligations make titles second party. The company themselves do not have to be second party. If SCE publishes any of these titles they will retain rights of usage. That is something that a larger company, who does not need sony, would NOT do. Breath of fire is wholly owned by capcom but because of contractual agreements the Bof's after part 3, released on the Playstation, has not been remade for other consoles. Yet part one and part two (released on SNES) found thier way to the GBA. these games Tekken - Namco - Third Party Soul calibur - Namco - Third Party Front Mission - Squaresoft- Third Party Metal Gear Solid - Konami- Third Party Z.O.E - Konami- Third Party Devil May cry - Capcom- Third Party Final Fantasy - Squaresoft- Third Party Kingdom Hearts - Squaresoft- Third Party Tales of ... - Namco - Third Party Disgaea - Nippon Ichi Software- Third Party Valkyrie profile - Squaresoft- Third Party Onimusha - Capcom- Third Party Ace Combat - Namco - Third Party Xenosaga - Namco - Third Party Star ocean - Squaresoft- Third Party are made by third party but have a high chance of hitting the PS3 first or exclusively in the near future. Quite a few of these titles have never made it "off" the playstation line.
