When I try saving movie file, it only converts and saves up to 34%... then stays there for... well... ever! I went out for an hour, came back and it still wasn't done. Any ideas?

Windows Movie Maker is a fine beginners tool... as for your problems... did you try using some other source for video or different files... try encoding it some other way.... you may be able to isolate the problem.
