Forums - Sony - New Exclusive Rockstar Franchise Coming to PS3

Frankly, GTA is wearing off as the CASUALS who made it are going to the wii

The other thing is GTA IV is completely different from GTA SA, you can't just go around killing people n stealing cars anymore, its much more complex

I'm pretty sure we'll still be able to kill whoever we please.

I've been alot more excited for LA Noire than GTA anyways, it's just that since LA Noire is aways off there isn't much news on it. That trailer makes it look VERY cool!

Any announcements from R* about the new IP? I bet in the end it will be timed, just like the DLC stuff for GTA, just like the EXCLUSIVE GTAIII, Vice City, and San Andreas. They were all 1 yr timed weren't they?

@maverick hunter z, ckmlb has both a 360 and PS3 you realize, right? calling him whatever version of sony fanboy you used is idiotic, stating his opinion is different than blindly talking smack. I agree with his idea, b/c I have a PS3 and I'm sure as hell not gonna buy a 360 for DLC on one game.

generally speaking most rockstar franchises do pretty good so this is good for the ps3

And when did I ever call him a "Sony fanboy" of any kind? If you'd like to have a mature and mannered debate then I'd kindly ask you to stop making shit up. Also perhaps you'd like to explain how owning both consoles makes a person any less biased towards one or another, last time I check fanboyism isn't gauged on console ownership, its gauged on behavior and mentality. There's not a single person I know that owns more than one console that doesn't in some way prefer or support one of them over the other(s).

But let's say you're right, for the sake or argument, I guess that means I can never be called a fanboy or said to favor one console over another because I have all three (trust me, if my brother didn't already own one I can garantee you I would have bought a PS3 myself, I'm not passing up FFXIII). So using your argument, I'm perfectly unbiased and my words will always be those of someone who has room to talk. How convenient for me or anyone else with the money to burn.

What's silly though, fanboyism or not, is saying hardly anyone is going to know about the exclusive content for the 360 version of GTA when its only been the biggest story in gaming since E3. Every gaming journal and magazine basically known to man has made some mention of it if not given it its own article. Microsoft spent 50 million dollars for exclusive content, whether that's a good thing or bad, that's something people are going to hear about.

Things that have changed since the last Generation of Gaming:

- Nintendo has shown us you can have the best selling console of all time with virtually no games for it.

- Graphics suddenly matter to Sony fans but Reverse Compatibility and Dual shock oddly enough don’t.

- Kiddy Crap is trendy with Hardcore gamers now that it’s no longer Nintendo’s “thing” (Viva Piñata, Little Big Planet, Banjo Kazooie 3, LBP)

- Third Party Developers are now essentially the equivalent of Video Game street pimps.

- Gimmicks are no longer fads (Wii-mote)... Well, not all Gimmicks (PS-Eye)

Yahh they gonna hear about it,  gonna  hear sorry core owner this DC is not for you.

But if you buy a Ps3 you get two exclusives and they will work 100%.

I think MGS 4 will be amazing, its graphics look great and i always loved the gameplay. As a 360 owner ill be sad if we dont get it, but congrats to ps3 owners if we dont. Killzone 2 is another matter. Its graphics look only marginally better than gears, pretty poor given its coming out at least one and a half years later. Although i do like the lighting effects, it looks like the same old boring gameplay. In all honesty i think you'll find the 360's processor could handle it. On space limitations, Sony said Motorstorm took up 22Gb, so im thinking their compression capabilities are simply poor compared to microsoft's.

I may pick up a ps3 next year for MGS4, but i think you'll find that Killzone 2 will be a pretty (but not mind-boggolling) looking game with mediocre gameplay. In any case, we'll see next year.

I didn't say it's not a big story that 360 is getting exclusive DLC and PS3 isn't and it will sell great to people who already bought the game on the 360. It's not gonna get people who have no interest in 360 or the game to buy the game for DLC that they will have to pay for down the road.

It's goo business but it's a minor thing as a system seller to have DLC, a new exclusive Rockstar franchise if it does well is a much better system seller.

I was buying the PS3 version of the game until the DLC thing happened now I'm getting both versions, but the majority of people don't have both consoles and won't be thinking about DLC as a major factor that will move them to buy a game if they have no interest in it or the console it's on.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

That's a fair argument honestly, But its GTA, People will want all that they can get out of it. Just like Guitar Hero II, people want more and the version with more, wins the fans. I think GTA is a bore to be honest, but its a ridiculously popular game and there's no denying that the 360 version (aside from having the larger instalation base) will most likely sell far more because of the DLC.

Also, remember, GTAIII was able to take off on the PS2 because the PS2 was a dynamic console with an exploding instalation base. The PS3 doesn't have this. And without previously proven games in a franchise to give the fans a taste, a new IP for any console can be easily ignored by those who don't wish to be troubled to own it. Previously established Franchises will always be the deciding factors for the majority of gamers throughout the generation.
