For everyone who doubts the Wii version and the graphics of the game is sub par or poor than in HD console versions:

Exhibit A call of duty 4:

Exhibit B call of duty 5 in PC version:

Exhibit C again, in PC version:

And now onto Wii:

No real difference except for the other versions are more shiny and polished than the Wii

Are you really using youtube videos as evidence about graphics? Wow.

For me, I'd say Wii FPS is best when the dead zone is only a little larger than the crosshair.

You absolutely can strafe at all times in Wii FPS games. Z-locking just lets you perform a perfect circle strafe around a central target, while allowing you to focus pointer control on aiming at targets rather than also controlling the camera with the pointer.

The tricky bit about Wii FPS is that it doesn't have the lockstep synchronization between aiming and the camera which you're probably used to from PC shooters. Locking the camera to the crosshair doesn't work because you're actually pointing at the screen. It wouldn't feel natural to aim the wiimote towards the right of the screen and have the camera turn so that shots fire at the center of the screen instead of the right side. So Wii FPS somewhat decouples the camera from the crosshair.

I strongly suggest you try a Wii FPS before you discard the idea of this control method. I've been playing FPS since back when everything was controlled with keyboard alone, and I find wiimote control to be the most fun method yet. It takes a little getting used to, but it's very satisfying to be able to decouple the camera from the crosshair and physically aim at your targets.

Hmm. How do you turn&shoot when strafing? I know that is propably a really stupid question.. but if I'd have to move my crosshair at the corner of the screen to turn, I just can't see how that would work.

It would not feel natural anyway, for me wiimote is like a mouse. A pointer. It does not matter if you point to left and fire at the center of the screen. I have tried one game with this kind of crosshair. Lost planet, and I really hated that game.

First, you start strafing by moving your thumbstick to the left, just like you would in any other shooter. This will cause your target to shift towards the right side of the screen. As you move your pointer to the right to keep track of your target, it will leave the dead zone and the camera will start to turn. Find the right balance of moving your 'body' to the left and moving your camera to the right and, tah-dah!, you're circle strafing.

You can see how a small dead zone would be better in this scenario. With a loose deadzone, your target will be jammed far to the side of the screen. With a tight dead zone, it will merely be right of center, and you should have a good view of the environment and enemies around your target.

Trust me, it makes no difference. Heres the IGN preview hands on of the game:

http://wii.ign.com/articles/915/915195p1.html

and heres the quote from it:

For starters, World at War makes use of the Call of Duty 4 engine on Wii, just like Activision's other headline Wii title, Quantum of Solace. Just a few seconds of eyes-on time is enough to notice where that power is coming in handy this time around, as World at War is one of the prettier games on Wii, so much so that some people (admittedly, ourselves included) actually mistook the game for the 360 build when entering the hands-on area. Granted we were about 30 feet from the game at that time, but whenever you can mistake Wii visuals for the "next gen" versions, you're on to something.

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

E3 2010- Tape runs out

@yushire

Have you taken a look at the screenshots for both platforms? I just can't see how anyone could have mistaken wii version for 360 version. Well, 30 feet is a long way.

Wow and I was expecting to see it look like the nintendo e3 trailer.. which was actually the 360 and ps3 versions of the game.. huge difference between the games, but it looks good for a wii game.

No it was the wii version. We know this because it was a video of the wii exclusive co-op where one player is playing an On-Rail Shooter while the other is able to move.

So I bought this game yesterday. Despite my dissapointment with Quantum (Multiplayer has fun elements, Singleplayer blows) I gave Treyarch a chance and picked up WAW.

Wii owners, this game is really, really good. The engine is the same as COD4 and you can feel it. Singleplayer and Multiplayer are really good. I couldnt stop smiling when I was playing. I have COD4 for the PC so I know how fun it is. Treyarch did a good job of keeping in the fun.

I truly think that the Conduit has its work cut out for it. The level design and special effects are pretty damn good. The sheer amount of particle onscreen is pretty impressive. Of course my PC can handle more graphically but I can't have IR pointing and a big screen TV to play on with COD4.

Here is IGN's review:

I agree for the most part with their review. Good times.

^^^

They give it a lower score than MOH: H2 though. But yeah, in all of the comments, videos and posts I've seen and read so far this is definitely good shooter for the Wii more with MOH: H2.

And yeah, GRAB THIS OPPORTUNITY AS YOU CAN BUY IT, Infinity Ward will make the next COD installment and we knew how do they feel regarding the Wii. Same as Epic and RE5 creator feels.

Alright, alright, I'm going to get it. Just one more question, does it have zombie online mode?

Why everyone keeps asking this question? Actually I dont know I also want to know too but my safest bet was NO.

Well, it's not like I'm very keen on it. Going to get Left 4 Dead anyway, but since I'm living in Germany, I want to know what I'm going to miss if I get the german version. I bet Zombie mode would be screwed totally. But if it isn't in, I don't have to worry.
