I don't agree with Nintendo not having enough games, though this is very subjective and very much a matter of tastes. You can look up my game list, it is quite incomplete but as you see (or not) I'm not much a spender.
This gen, that changed. There's many more games I want to buy. Wii especially. It is making me play games I wouldn't even consider trying before. The diversity and the controls are 2 very big aspects of that change of attitude. As example, I wouldn't have considered playing Metroid before and my mind changed about it because of the Wii-mote.
Nintendo took the best direction, for themselves, this gen. Sure, they're releasing "casual" games, so what? There's still going to be Mario, Zelda, Pikmin and some older franchises revived. Plus, because of their new vision, they're getting more support. Sure some companies like to make crap game just to make money but they're not all doing that. You know there are good 3rd party games coming up, so it's not necessary to say.
Also, something you didn't consider: The Wii is 2 years old. Zelda Twilight Princess came out at lunch and Phantom Hourglass is only a year old. Remember how long it took before, back in the old days, for games to release? It took 4 years for A Link to the Past to come out, since the last game and 5 years for Ocarina of Time. So just relax and wait.
To conclude, I don't think this gen is bad. There has never been a time where I've been gaming on so many consoles (my bf and I own all of them together) and wanted so many games. My opinion.
