Another quick question for everyone who's played KH and KH2, did you recognize all the worlds you went into?

The first time I went into that crazy cyber space world I was like, "what the hell is this..?" I still don't know what that place was, partly because I never bothered to look it up.

Wall-e!

just kidding of course.

The only disney space movie I can think of other than that is called "Black Hole" and I only know of that because we sell it at best buy. X.x

Cyber space..like... the internet. :P You get teleported into this crazy ass computer system with an intelligent AI system that wants to take over the freakin world. You also ride a futuristic motorcycle in the mini-mini-game part.

EDIT: Tron? Not only does it not seem like the other Disney franchises (much like Pirates of the Carribean), but I've never even heard of it. Was it a popular movie?

ROFFLE.

You do team up with a character named TRON so it's not like it's that farfetched that that movie was the basis for that world.

Tag - "No trolling on my watch!"

You've never heard of TRON!?

Go watch Tron. Watch it right now.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

I still cannot believe they're making a Tron 2...or as they like put TR2N

I would say yes - easily. Take a look at the first game's sales:

Region Japan America Others Total
Total Sales 1.24m 3.45m 0.81m 5.50m

Notice how unproportionally popular it is in America? That has to be Disney at work... besides Pokemon, it's the best selling RPG ever in America. The sequel looked like this:

Region Japan America Others Total
Total Sales 1.16m 2.06m 0.47m 3.69m

I'm guessing KH2 didn't do so well because it didn't have much to attract the crowd more interested in Disney. Its story only got more complicated (no Disney in the whole Roxas crap), and the "improvements" on the game took away the simplicity the first game had.

That's just my theory, anyway.

Missed the part where I said I never heard of the movie before?

Stof, is the movie that good? It seemed kind of lame when I was playing through that part in KH2.. If the movie is good though, I guess it'd be something to see next weekend.

EDIT: C0rd, most Japanese people love Disney from what I've seen. Combine that with the RPG aspect of the game, and... why didn't it sell better in Japan?

The effect for Tron is so awesome that while the effects are dated, they're still cool. The story is a bit too Disney for it's own good, but you should still watch it. It's an experience movie. Even if you don't like it, you'll be glad you watched it.

1M+ is still pretty good sales for Japan, that only puts it behind RPG's like Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy (not including handhelds) Can't think of any other RPG's that have sold more off the top of my head.

Keep in mind that Japan's population is roughly 1/3 of North America and the PS2 install base around 40% of NA.

i think the initial draw was disney but when u get to know the characters and story and they way they tie it up all together it is a recipe for awesome. plus, its always nice seeing disney characters kick ass lol.

For King Mickey!!!!
