PS3 got the blu-ray victory boost for most part of the year. Since bd players are cheaper and certainly better looking (eh, i posted on another thread about looks) than ps3, people who don't want a game console can purchase a less expensive bluray player. All in all, a lot of people will plunge money for a PS3 when it will have a price drop, it's just if those people can wait until then and resist the temptation of getting a 360.

I believe it will eventually with future price drops and more adopters of HD consoles.

I still think it will outsell the 360 in the long run and for a few reasons. First what MS is doing in Japan and Europe will more than likely not last especially as PS3 gets cheaper and with games like GT5 and FF13. MS just won't be able to compete with that in the respective territories. Remember MS has just unloaded all its guns, essentially, while Sony still has a machine gun with full ammo. It just depends how many they will hit with.

But still, PS3 needs to make ground in America. This is where my one concern is. If it can't make any room up in America then outselling the 360 is hopeless. We'll see how it progresses in 2009 but has to make a move. I'm not worried about E/O and Japan as I am about America. 360 could easily outsell PS3 because of America's advantage alone.

So I still think it will, but it slims everyday. One thing PS3 does have going for it is that 360 can't last as long nor will MS allow it to last that long. So I recognize it still as a possibility but it slims everyday. Sony needs to start jumping is all I can say.

Agreed. America is where they are losing the most ground. If they cant turn that around they could very well end up like the 360 in Japan.  The market is saturated as is and no one will want to buy one because they already have one of the other consoles.

As for Europe they have a good lead there but X box is gaining ground recently due to the price drop.  I can see this battle going on for a long time. It is the fastest growing market and both companies are pushing hard.

Meanwhile the Nintendo continues to rape wallets and bank accounts around the world with their overpriced yet successfull Wii.

Just out of curiosity did any of you actually bother to look at the time stamps before you posted in this thread? What exactly is the point of responding to a thread that is over two weeks old. More to the point if you want to carry on the fight we have a perfectly good thread going on seven pages long. Why spill it out into the streets.

You're telling half-truths though, those prices have only been their lowest prices since September and this week shows that they're not "selling nearly on par".
