That was the exact same thing i've been saying to my family you can't credit or discredit some one on the basis of their race .Obama could turn out to be more damaging to lower salary margins (I think many african americans fall into this category) than a republican president , not that I think that he will be worse but how would you know if your only looking at his skin colour when voting for him.

But then we also have to consider the significance of a minority by the majoirty it couldn't be possible in a predominantly racist and ignorant nation , it shows progression not neccaserily of the economic or political kind but i'd like to see it as a progression of human thought.

If the President gives a speech, they typically evacuate every building with a clear view of the President, then keep an eye on those buildings. There are always ways to sneak around it, though. This is a big reason why they prefer to do indoor speeches. Security is easier.

When the President is to go to the location of the speech, the select a place that has a number of possible routes from the White House or airport (depending on where they're going), and they send the President with a police escort that usually consists of 50+ police cruisers. They'll usually pick a route that's easily changed should there be any suspicions.

I've seen it. I was driving down the highway once a few years ago, when I saw a couple police cruisers come around the bend with their lights flashing. Then a couple more. Then some more. Then a whole mess of them, three huge tour buses (two are probably decoys), and about twenty cruisers trailing. It was a spectacle.

Sadly, if a white bald guy who looks like he has not showered in a week gets close to Obama, he will have to be treated like every other citizen.

One of Obama's plans, is to remove racial profiling.

I voted for Obama, and I certainly hope he lives to be an old man.......but if he does die, even if he accomplishes nothing, he will be portrayed as the greatest president that ever lived!

Racists are everywhere but there are certain parts of the South where it is very pervasive.. Alabama and rural Georgia come to mind. I technically live in the South (Orlando, FL) but racism is not really a big deal here because it is so diverse and people SEEM to get along with each other.

But...that describes half the politicians in Washington. Ehh, whatever.

Besides, it's not easy to kill the president. No matter who you are or how popular you are, there are probably hundreds of millions of people worldwide that want to kill you if you're the U.S. president. I'm sure Obama will be fine, and even if he does die (should it ever come to that), that's the main purpose of the VP.

Don't mind Montana, Mafoo had to somehow turn the ignorance of people who think Obama should be killed because of his race into something that reflects Obama's racism.

He should be a spin doctor! He'd probably make a lot of money.

I look middle eastern (if you go far enough back, I guess I am). After 9/11 I was always pulled out of the line to be searched for flights. I remember counting, and 17 legs in a row I was pulled out of the line.

People would always ask me if it upset me. I said hell no. If someone is going to blow this plain up, they are going to look like me. I don't want to waist a search on some 50 years old blond woman from Kansas. I want you to search the other dark skinned black haired guys standing in this line. It makes the flight safer for everyone (including me).

I think it's ironic that now the one you need to racial profile, is white people. Right when you want to stop it.
