So I finally got my GOW2 from Amazon in the mail today. I have to hold back playing Campaign cause me and my roomie beat 1 together and will do the same for 2. Now that doesnt matter as Ive spent countless hours playing Gears 1 multiplayer. So I might as well jump in to it. The game plays exactly the same for the most part but.........
You MUST play a game via the auto teammate selector, unless you have friends. You can join any on-line game that is not set to private, just as you could before. You can also switch teams by hitting the "Y" button (it puts an icon indicating you want to switch).
Your game must have all players and only 5 rounds. Wrong and wrong. Bots can be chosen to complete out the 5 and 5, but are not necessary. Hosts selects the number of rounds, I've played as few as 5 as many as 10 to a match.
You have limited choice as to what level you play. Host option can select the level; there are 10 new maps and 5 re-made original ones. Depending on the host, you either vote to select, or host decides.
You cant choose to play execution or warzone individually, the type of game you play is voted at the beginning of the round This is hosts option, they can set it to vote, or they can choose themselves. Just as in every other multi-player game.
Auto Team select seems to take no consideration as to how a persons connection is(I was in a game with some guy in ALASKA and I am in NY). Some games are great for me others are complete garbage. Game matching is based on relative player skill and not location. Connection quality is NOT only influenced by your distance from the host. I've connected better to folks in San Francisco than I have to folks in Houston and I live in San Antonio.
Im really let down and this game needs a HUGE patch ASAP, which I do not see coming for at least a few months. If I were a game reviewer I would not give this game even close to what the Gears 1 score is(IMO the beef of Gears 1 is the MP). Is anyone else crushed about the way gears MP turned out? Multiplayer set-up is different, but nowhere near as bas as you stated above, sorry, maybe you didn't play long enough to figure it out?
EDIT: You also cannot quit a match once you are in without turning off the system. I thought it was messing up but its just bad design. I understand they dont encourage people leaving games, but when Im lagged to hell why would I stick around. Wrong again, you can leave any game at any time. When playing ranked, that is a douche thing to do, but it can be done. Start, then quit, works, though you could just hit the guide button and exit to the dashboard. Are you sure you played this game?
EDIT 2: apparently no friendly fire matches, which I love in all my MP Shooters. Wrong again, friendly fire is an option set at the beginning of the game.
EDIT3: If there are 2 full teams in a room and every player from one team leaves the game still starts and every round goes to the team with players. This has not happened to me, so I can't say. No offense, but judging from how you were wrong on every single item you've posted above, I'd have to see this, to believe it.
