I didn't know this... Wow... Lucky Japanese! This looks really nice! Also, I agree they should have introduced it here too, with a smaller HD of course (the price is way too high).

Looks nice. I have a PS2 Old Style anyway. Fitting a HD drive in it was cheap (did it about 3 years ago), now it has a pile of games on it. Still the option to have a HD fitted would have been nice.

Well it bombed in japan, so must be the reason why it has never hit europe or us...

when i first saw it in electronic gaming monthly i was dead set on getting it no matter the cost. it never saw the light of day in canada... so i continued on with the original release ps2.

OT: i'm not sure how it would have helped the ps3's sales. it might have opened people's eyes about a media center but a lot of nay-sayers would have been pretty pissed at sony for their money grubbing ways.

@Tremble: You really do need over a 100 gigs to record TV comfortably. It makes me wonder what the Play TV crowd in Europe does to remedy this problem.
