Never was a PS3 Beta. Although I think they commented that there would be something to come, but notta. IIRC they did the same thing with COD4.

So they have hit 14 million on PSN? Last thing I saw as of last month was 12. Regardless you can count me as 2 free accounts. Oh I see your thread on it. That so called MS rep would be incorrect since MS announced 14 million in there earnings report not two weeks ago.
I guess we confuse a Demo and a Beta.
A devlopper will not see the need to have tow Beta if it's the same program that he want to test.
I guess a little reading in wikipedia will help a little

This. http://www.digitalbattle.com/2008/09/29/call-of-duty-5-beta-360-and-pc-exclusive "When asked for a reason as to why PS3 owners will be left in the dark, an Activision representative let us know that since most PS3 betas are first title anyways, they will be able to aquire more online data from the 360 and PC. Looks like he’s pointing fingers at Sony."

Congrats. This post is the largest pile of crap I've seen all week. Also your signature seems to be incorrect, LBP was not the blockbuster hit you wished. ô_ô

In the Capcom forum, Seth Killian, a senior manager for the Capcom Community, writes, "As for not having a beta program on PSN, it has already been stated that this is due to a technical issue with Sony. As in, they don't support such a program yet."

I wasn't really being serious in case you couldn't tell :P In either case sony should look into that issue then, but they already have a lot of things they do so this might not be top priority. In particular since betas aren't as important as the games themselves or (for me and many others) aditional functionality :)

Don't know if it is true but it can't be compared to XBL.
People who pay for XBL are actives (because they pay for it
so they use it)while PSN users aren't necessarily...
Those figures are totally different then. You can be a PS3 users who never play online but subscribed to PSN anyway...
Real-life example :
I'm subscribed to PSN and I don't have a PS3. Why ? Simple.
I sometimes use the PS3 of my little cousin. This is a family machine with 4 users. They sometimes go to PSN for demos, but never bought anything. Same for me, I subscribed to help them doing the update but never went multiplayer or bought anything.
BUT ... in the figures of Sony... this is technically 4 subscribed users ... POTENTIAL client yes... but no deal.
So, to help in assesing the quality of a (multiplateform) multiplayer game, this is a hardly the most relevant online community ...
Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

There's a difference between the users who connect online, and the users that actively partake in online multiplayer.
Since XBL gold members (who have access to the beta) are indeed active users of the online capabilities of the 360, they will get more comprehensive data then the 12 million PSN users of whom there is a not yet publicly known amount who don't play online multiplayer regularly.
Safe bet of X amount of users OR gamble on the fact that the PR number Sony spewed represents a large number of players who potentially use the service (which doesn't include a disclaimer about level of user activity for the cutoff and the number of accounts per person).
Plus, I thought the question in this thread had been answered by Sony not giving 3rd party devs beta tools.
Which if you want to read it a certain way, can mean that Sony still doesn't take online seriously and is shooting itself in the foot again <--- See, this is yet another example of having an inch and running a mile with it, as many have done in this thread already.
