here is my quick sloppy review...
Is Quantum of Solace an amazing game? no.
Is it a decent game? Yes.
does it deserve to be rated less than most Ubisoft cash ins: FUCK NO!
I picked up Quantum of Solace b/c I have odd taste in games, and don't get along with reviewers too often. Although I haven't made it really far AFAIK into the single player, I've made it to where it begins to tell the Casino Royale back story, and unless the game "jumps the shark" at that point, its pretty good so far. The weapons are balanced, the combat is fun, it has semi-destructible environments, and the AI seems decent.
yes there are some issues as there are a few times where the framerate drops, but it isn't nearly as bad as IGN made it out to be. If you want to see a game drop in framerate, check out Megaman X8 for the ps2, and get back to me. There are also a few visual glitches that make the game look kind of thrown together, but they don't detract too much unless you are looking for them, as most reviewers would be doing. there is one cutscene where bond is standing with his arm inside of a metal beam that was sort of questionable.
I just got through playing the online multiplayer for almost 4 hours, and I almost like it more than MOH:H2. the only downside is that the multiplayer is only 4 people. In the multiplayer you choose classes like in games like Team Fortess, and go to town, the controls for the online are pretty smooth, and since the level isn't exploding or anything the framerate is steady. There are 2 modes, conflict (deathmatch) and Rush (which I wan't able to play because everyone was playing conflict, but it involves objectives), these are then split into free for all, or team versions.
If I were to give the storymose a grade so far it would be a 7, but if I were to rate the multiplayer it would be an 8....If you are open minded, and a Bond fan, this game is at least worth a rent.
all in all I think it is much better than Red Steel, and it seems to be getting a bad rep. ONM game Red Steel a 9/10 and ign gave it a 60 for a basis...
Pros.
The Call of Duty engine is ported pretty well with all things considered
Online Multiplayer is awesome, seems like an updated Goldeneyte mixed with Rainbow 6.
has elements seldom sen in wii games, like destructible environments.
Cons.
looks like a PS2 game in some parts, great in others, that was kind of odd
framerates occasionally drop to a crawl for a second or two
a few visual glitches like a quick stall or rendering problem left in.
I can elaborate more if you have questions
