I got the impression he was referring to Robert Rubin. Rubin is one of Obama's economic advisers.

Robert Rubin wouldn't surprise me, the good part about pick already elected officials though is the fact that they've been vetted. He won't pick all elected officials but I don't think he wants scandals in such an important post (important this year).

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Is Obama's plan to put Republicans in his cabinet as well?

The rumors on the news, from insiders, is that Robert Gates will be around for a bit. He is the one who convinced Bush to change certain things.

I really hope Obama would have the sense not to appoint Colon Powell as SecofState the man KNOWINGLY lied to the U.N. for the purpose of drumming up support for an illegal and immoral war.

Surely Barack has higher standards than that.

Wesley Clark would be great.

From what I saw he thought it was the truth, and then was really pissed when he found out it wasn't... leading to his resignation, pissed off attitude towards bush and really repubs in general.

He said so... but so did Bush I think... and so do most presidents.

Outside of a few keepons though i'd be shocked if he went through.

Why not? I bet Hagel gets a post.

He has no probs with tapping Republicans - as long as folks play on his team.

Hagel sits on both the Committee of Foreign Relations and the Select Committee on Intelligence. I suppose Obama could select him as the DNI or the ANSA.

There are plenty of positions that have been filled by the other party.

Sec. of Veteran's Affairs
Sec. of Transportation
Sec. of Labor
Sec. of Agriculture
Sec. of the Interior
Sec. of Education
Sec. of Commerce
Sec. of Health and Human Services...

The thing is that many Dems and more Reps want to see a Rep in a position that matters.

That's a thought. I think Powell is willing to give D.C. another shot and will be his Sect. of Education.
