Forums - Sony - 40 gig ps3s for 200 dollars only!

Want a ps3 but can't affored 400? Go to blockbuster. They're trying to sell all of there 40 gigs and the problem is that people don't normally go to blockbuster for systems. So if your blockbuster sells some ps3's check it out. I don't know if its everywhere but i know its in the placer county district and we're not allowed to lower the price of something unless all of blockbuster does.

Hmmm, maybe I'll check that out. Is the PS3 40gb version the same in every way as the 80gb minus half the hard drive size or are there other differences?

From the sound of your post, you work at Blockbuster? If so, how are the PS3 consoles moving with this clearance sale?

I'll come up with something better eventually...

The 40 GB uses the old 90 nm chips, and runs a bit hotter and eats more electricity than the new 80 GB SKU that uses 65 nm chips.  It may also be packed with the sixaxis rather than dualshock 3, but I am not certain of that.  The other features (or lack there of) are the same.  The upcoming 160 GB SKU is the same as the new 80 but with even more storage.

Hmmm, maybe I'll just wait until the 80gb comes down in price if I decide to buy one. It might be cheaper now if I were to find the 40gb but all that extra electricity adds up to a lot of money. And I'd rather my system stay a little cooler too when running if possible. But I might still check out the Blockbuster by me just for curiosity.

The obld 40 GB uses 200 W of electricity, the new 80 GB uses 135 W.  Worth it to buy it cheaper?  You do the math.

Sounds a lot like bs, even for a used one.

Should get some decent sales in... but nothing noticable to overall sales I think.

4 ≈ One

Not a bad deal. Still perfer my $300 20 gig though.

They're probably used systems i'd think?

I mean... half price new is just ridiculious.  They could make more just Ebaying them en masse or selling them to some other retailer.

Nah they're not used. We don't do used trade ins. ps3 is actually doing pretty good in our area. We have not sold any 360's yet but we sell a ps3 every now and then. Rentals are in favor of 360 though, and wii is always sold out.
