Oh, and I know the OP was thick headed. That doesn't make bratty "sour grapes" comments an appropriate response. What would be is something like "We know he can't solve this immediately. We know he's not a messiah for this country. Okay, the media tends to bury that. It sucks, we know. We got the same before."

Yeah, the "love it or leave it" argument is really stupid and not valid at all. But it's still fun to throw it back at the assholes who coined it for years. In fact, Mafoo's said he'll leave the country if Obama wins several times now, and even started a thread for finding a good country.

Okay, that is perfectly valid to throw at him.

This is why I brought it up.  He's actually threatened to do so in the past.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Ironically the article isn't at all that rosy for Obama compared to a lot of the articles I have read in the last 24 hours. I mean there has been plenty of ooohing and aaaahing in the media, but this article is not a good example.

The fact is that this was only lightly touched before. Neither candidate could just wave his hand and make it better, but Obama is going to have to learn fast. I'm still not sure he can do it. If he does, great, but this isn't going away soon. I just hope he doesn't try that "It's not our fault" crap that was done when bush started.
