The Wii is in a slump right now in Japan. and even while slumping it's still selling very well. And that slump isn't going to last long. Animal Crossing is going to be huge, and we're already seeing the major third party Japanese shift. At the TGS, 3 third party Wii games were in the top 12 as voted by journalists (Sega's 428, Probe's Lets Tap and Capcom's Monster Hunter 3). And the Wii just got the new Tales main story announcement.

Personally I'm expecting the Wii to get the next Dragon Quest game as well. I really do expect the Wii to do as well as, if not better than, the PS2.

Is this some sort of a sex game popular with the Japanese or am I just a dirty thinker who is too lazy to do my own research?

i think most likely wii will get 18-20 million. monster hunter 3 will be HUGE. but it needs the trifecta to beat ps2. it needs mh3, the next dragon quest game, and a full good pokemon game. and besides that it just needs decent 3rd party support and a steady flow of jrpgs. but those are two things that i think it will be getting by the end of next year. i think DQX is likely towards the end of the current gen. pokemon i doubt it but it would be huge if they did it right. final fantasy could always replace pokemon but square enix is too dumb to put FFXIV on wii. which is sad, cuz it would sell like crazy especially in japan. so i say probably not. most likely it'll just edge over 20 million.

end of '08 predictions: wii - 43 million,  360 - 25 million, ps3 - 20 million

Games I've beat recently: Super Mario Galaxy, Knights of the Old Republic, Shadow of the Collossus

Well, some info.

Ps2 sales in Japan.

2000: 3636K

2001: 3916K

2002: 4357K

2003:  3542K

2004: 3277K

2005: 2481K

2006: 1579K

2007: 844K

2008: ~ 650K

Wii:

2006: 1130K

2007: 3907K

2008: ~ 3200K So far 2320K. Same time last year it was 2800K.

So I'd say no. The Wii looks like it is rather going to end at a ~ 15M level.

That is VGChartz LONGEST review. And it's NOT Cute Kitten DS

No, It won't last as long as the playstation 2. I'd say:

- wii: 14M LTD

- PS3: 10M LTD

- Xbox360: 1,2M LTD

We'll have to see how it fares this holiday season. Looking at Oyvoyvoyv's numbers it seems like Wii sold around 1.1M in the last 2 months of 2007. If it does the same again this year it would end up selling around 3.4M units in 2008, which is pretty well in line with PS2's yearly sales. If it does considerably worse it will need to increase its sales in the future to keep up with PS2.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Probably, Wii will be selling for years, and during that time will experience price drops eventually. Although japan will probably be the market that takes the longest for Wii to pass the PS2
