Forums - Sony - Sony wins Grand Prix prize for publishing awesomeness

At the Develop Industry Excellence Awards, the European segment of Sony walked away with the most prestigious award available at said ceremony. When given the award, the statement given for Sony's excellence was described as follows: "capping 12 months which have seen the firm deliver a new hardware format that has inspired developers around the world to make cutting-edge next generation games." That's right -- the PlayStation 3 is getting the clout for developers worldwide making fantastic new titles.

Other Sony products receiving awards were SCEE/Evolution Studios for best new IP with Motorstorm, and Zoe Mode got the same nod for their PSP game Crush. There were other awards for many other titles, but as far as Sony goes, this is about the extent of their excellence. We give them similar props because, well, we're sure next year they'll get an award for LittleBigPlanet. It's inevitable. Anyone care to make a wager?
Come on in and see if we can make this seem like a bad thing too! Seriously though, some good news is always welcome as far as I'm concerned!

Not meaning to sound like a whiny fandboy of another console, book look at the nominees. That was another one of those contests where they have to nominate themselves and I'm guessing that Nintendo, like they've done in other similar contests, didn't bother applying.

Out of all the companies EA,microsoft, Capcom, and others I forgot about the top 2 that make games are

Sony And Nintendo.

Crackdown and Viva Pinata(I really don't know anything about this game) as well as Red Steel(so N was there) were in there. not terrible to beat those guys.

No, Nintendo didn't apply for any awards (they never do).  Red Steel was Ubisoft.

Red Steel was made by Ubisoft, not Nintendo.

-edit-
bah, beaten.

I'll agree to what twestem said, and add this :

"The Develop Industry Excellence Awards honour the best creative, technical and business minds in UK and European games development."

I wonder why Japan based Nintendo wasn't there...

NVM. We are not making it look bad, we are making it less good.

The award is for EU developers only. I think Rare was the only EU based studio that Nintendo had.

Anyway, good for Sony. Hehe sorry wasn't trying to derail your good news topic!
