Crazy.
Did you hear about the woman, who hasn't lived in the US since the 1970's, that flew to the US from Germany to vote?
Its much easier to lead the rest of the world when the rest of the world actually likes you.
We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls. The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke
It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...." Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson
Isn't disruption a beautiful thing? Especially when it comes packed in with a Blue Ocean Strategy. You find that all sorts of people who didn't care just a year ago are suddenly all over something like it's the last day of Buy 1 Get 2 Free sale. And no, I have not changed the topic at all. I just put it in a slightly different perspective.

I wasn't really looking for someone to lead the world. I was looking for someone to lead America.
It is kind of crazy to have all this Obama love. I mean he is a charming guy, and could do good things, but he has done nothing of any substance with his career to date.
To already treat him like the Messiah is a little premature.
Mafoo, the thing you have to realize is that Obama is now the president and the president is the most powerful person in the world, he represents the american dream in a way that has never been seen and has given hope to every country around the world that the US is the land of opportunity and has a chance to rebuild our tarnished reputation.

Does he not take office in 2009, I thought we had a few more months of bush.

I don't quite get your logic. Obana wants to move us to a European form of government on a scale never seen before. If in the end we are to be more like Europe, how are we now more of an American Dream?
America used to be the land of opportunity, if Obama has his way, it won't be anymore.
In a Communist country like China, you are allowed to own a business, and make a very good living. If your company gets to big, the government will feel that the profits of that company now should go to the people, and will nationalize it.
That, is not the land of opportunity.
In socialism, they kind of do the same thing. They don't take the business away from you, they just tax the living shit out of it and give it to the people.
That, is not the land of opportunity.
This is what Obama wants to do. Give tax relief to the poor (and for some of the poor actually give them money), and tax the hell out the anyone who starts getting to big.
What phrase is the opposite of "land of opportunity"? That would be "spread the wealth"
so whats wrong with making rich people pay more taxes? Do you think kobe bryant is going to go bankrupt over this? probably not. and as far as europe being socialist blah blah, france has the best healthcare system in the world, healthcare should be a damn right not a privilege. now this thread is getting derailed over this when it's meant to talk about the article i linked.
I don't care how long I live, I will never agree that healthcare is a right.
