Just curious going by the current sales trends do you think if the ps3 and xbox 360 had the same price point as the wii they will still be outsold by the wii of will they be outselling the wii??

The Xbox 360 is a lot cheaper than the Wii world wide -- the 60GB Xbox 360 is cheaper than the Wii in Europe and many other parts of the world.  On amazon.co.uk, the 360 60GB model is 160 pounds where the Wii is 170 pounds.

And in America the Arcade is $199 or $169 if you watch for deals on Dell.  And it still won't sell 1/5th as many units as the Wii.  How would the 360 sell as much as the Wii if you increased its price?

It's too difficult to say for the PS3 because the PS3 is so far from being sold at the same price as the Wii.  However, the Wii is drastically outselling it and both are cheap enough that people who really want them can get them.  I strongly doubt dropping the PS3's price to match the Wii's price would more than double the PS3's sales.

The Wii is just more popular than the PS3 like the DS is more poplar than the PSP.  It doesn't so much have to do with price.

We may never see the Wii and PS3 at the same price -- we have no idea when the Wii will see its first price drop, and Sony's financials came out so terribly that we can't imagine they'd want to take even more loss on the PS3 than they're taking already.  At some point, they need to start recovering costs.

Yep.  Bought my Wii for £179.  Bought a 60gb 360 for £169 (and most people will offer a free game or two with it).

If all three consoles were the same price as the Wii in the US ($250):

PS3 sales would increase at least 50% from a $150 price drop.
XBox 360 sales would drop from a price increase on the cheapest model.
Wii sales would stay the same, since it is still supply constrained in many areas.
