Forums - Gaming Discussion - Which company makes better western rpgs: Bethesda or Bioware?

From my understanding, Bethesda made great ones like Oblivion and Fallout 3. Bioware made KOTOR (Knights of the old republic), Jade Empire, and Mass Effect.

Thoughts Please.

BioWare. After Mass Effect, I have no doubt in what they're capable of.

Bethesda only made one good game in my book, and it's Fallout 3 (even with that old engine they've been using forever).

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Both have their strong points. Bioware excels at creating story driven gaming, and really has no peers when it comes to this. Whereas Bethesda excels at creating interesting and open worlds that you can lose yourself in for hundreds of houses and which offers gamers plenty of opportunity to develop their own missions and dungeons.

I'm not sure you can go wrong with either and whilst I would probably lean towards Bioware, Morrowind is easily amongst my favourite games.

Bioware

Mass Effect is God.

(I also own Fallout3 and Fable2).

WRPG:

1- Bioware
2- Lionhead Studio
3- Bethesda

Out of the two, I would say Bioware, though Bethesda have pulled one back with Fallout 3. They have a long way to go before being compared to Black Isle, though

Bioware by far. Bethesda games always seem great on paper to me but when I play them, I always seem to get bored. The most disappointing Bioware game I played was Jade Empire. I still liked that game a lot though. Oblivion was the most disappointing Bethesda game I played and that game bored me to tears.

Let's get the full list of games - each company produced - and then we can compare it.

Personaly I think Bioware is a better game developer - the Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights and KOTOR series - are far better that the TES and Fallout 3.

Be cool if they worked together on one monster wrpg.

-UBISOFT BOYCOTT!-

Bioware.

Bethesda's games are essentially all the same if you really think about it. Also, I dislike Bethesda's games when I actually play them.
