Potential is good..........but you can't play potential. I'd like to see Team Ninja actually make a good game for the PS3, instead of talking about what they could possibly do.

PS3 has potential of course, i dont see why it's fans always have to remind everyone that.
Of course it has potential. Everything does. Wii has potential. Look at Conduit. Damn fine graphics. But I don't think people care anymore.

Sums up how I feel pretty well.
Anyway, PS3's potential lies in Blu-ray, seeing as how real world, every other component either bottlenecks or is bottlenecked by another one, meaning that the PS3 is only slightly better then the 360 when pushed (note the when pushed part because it can be far worse than the 360 when the power isn't tapped).
| NeoRatt said: Wow... Real shocker... Faster processor... More Processors... Fast GPU, etc. It probably has more potential. The problem seems to be that nobody has really figured out how to tap all that potential. Potential isn't much if it isn't taken advantage of. |
@Bolded and fixed a little- i agree 100%, potential is all well and good, but what is it worth if the devs of all 1st 2nd and 3rd party for sony are all stupid/lazy? nothing thats what!

Why are installs manadatory on some games? What in the PS3 overall architecture causes devts to have to perform do manadatory installs? Why was MGS4 so expensive to build? Could Sony have provided better devt kit to devts? Could there have been more work done by Sony up front to understand how the cell needs to be used? Does the transfer speeds of the blu-ray drives match the data gobs that it can store and want to dish out?
I don't know the answer to any of these. But, as someone that has over 15 years of software devt experience I have yet to meet a "lazy" devt. And I know the "stupid" ones get let go very quickly. All devts I know will put in 16 hours days non-stop for literally months sacrificing their personal life completely because they believe in the software they make. The ones that aren't willing to do that simply do not survive in the industry. I would encourage you to spend some time in a game devt shop. You will find that devts are some of the most committed people in any profession. Especially on AAA projects.
