Two of the biggest shooter developers, two of the biggest games of the year.

What else can I say? I haven't had the chance to play either yet and both are instant purchases. Even with Gears 2 getting a mid 90s aggregate theres every chance that Valve will match or exceed that effort simply based on past achievements and previewer feedback which shows the game follows the same pattern of their previous excellent releases.

Because Gears is more of a known quantity at this point, I have to tentatively point my finger in that direction... Hell this is hard, so yeah which way do you think the awards are going to go this year?

I'd have to say Gears, but since its Valve you never know how this could turn up...

Left 4 Dead

Gears 2 will be it on the 360... but I think in reality Left 4 Dead will be better. But reviewers we know will never see it that way haha.

Obviously Gears of War 2, just for the awesome box art. Everybody knows that awesome box arts = good sales.

I mean, look how Valve copied EA's Dead Space box art design. Everybody knows that Valve copied it because all workers at EA are geniuses and create good and original things that always sell good anyways. I mean, they even showed their game's box art a few weeks after EA did with theirs, so they had to have another design before that! Also, Left 4 Dead being only a 360/PC game, they definitely won't sell more copies of their game to PS3-only owners just because they have a hand that's missing a thumb for a box art! I thought Valve knew better, oh well...

Gears of war 2 will be shooter of the year mainly from the Xbox 360 fanboys hyping it up,but left4dead will be better IMO.

Boy....wow. That is hella tough. Gears 2; L4D is very close behind. Gears 2 wins hands down for online, and there is where the replay value will be greater.

Left 4 Dead for sure, that will also be the best online game

@shadowblind : How can you say gears 2 wins hands down for online? L4D is going to have it's on crazy online. Grouping up with friends to fight off the undead?! What could be better than that?
