Forums - Microsoft - Rare says they will not fix text in Banjo

I played on a 40" HDTV and the text was fine and a 30" SDTV and although a little blurry I could still read the text. I can see it being a problem once you get bellow 30" and if your sitting far away but for my setup it worked out ok.

The problem is not only with SDTV's its with Hd ones aswell. Many people complain all the time they can't read the text on their 40" or higher HDTV's.

That's what I don't get. It's not that it's just too small to be readable on a Standard Definition set, but it's generally tiny and a pain to read on a HD set. Again, why the desire for such small text? My only guess is maybe since they make games at a PC, they presume what's readable on a High-Rez monitor less than a foot away from your face is just as readable on an HDTV several feet away.

I hope it won't be a game breaker problem.

I have an HDTV fortunately :D But I remember seeing Dead Rising on my brother's SDTV when I went to visit him a while back, and I couldn't imagine putting up with that on an SDTV.

Kind of a strange oversight for a game that would probably appeal more to owners of SDTVs than HDTVs

Excellent. Yet another reason that my superior HDTV owning skills are leet!

Anyway, yes, I think we have some legitimate complainers here, but I think most people will just be hoping to marginalize the game because it's a 360 exclusive.

I could care less. If the game is good, I'll buy it. Story or not. That's just me though.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

It's inexcusable though, considering that SDTV users seem to be getting the shaft a lot in terms of text in games nowadays. There was never a problem with text size (there may have been a few games with color issues though), that I remember, in the past gen, but the upgrade to HD consoles has severely reduced the text size to unreadable standards on some games. Is it really that hard to increase the font size and make the text window or whatever scrolling to accommodate the, which I'm sure is a majority, the SDTV users?

Hasn't this happened several times already?

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

Seems weird that it would be that expensive.

Somehow I imagine text for a certain char or whatever to be char-bound by a parameter. Like in a website, you then assign certain values to that parameter and you're set to go.

Problem with certain values? Change it once and you're in the clear.

I've seen no one here complaining who doesn't legitimately own a 360.  I think you should hop off the fanboy bandwagon for a minute and actually address an issue with a developer.  Even if its one you like.

Sometimes I can't help thinking that the gaming industry is a joke.

How is it possible that SDTV testing isn't mandatory throughout the development process?
