Forums - General - "Animation Domination" is about to be no more on FOX

My reasons for thinking this? Simple: They didn't renew king of the hill. What the hell, it was the only true show I consider still apart of animation domination.

"but there are other shows!" you say, here's a rundown:

American Dad- renewed. What! Really?

Family guy- stupid.

Futurama- cancelled, then moved to comedy central

The Simpsons- after so many seasons of being on the air (since 1989, not including tracy ullman!) the show had to stay fresh, so what did they do after about the first 10 seasons? Two things actually: They make Homer so stupid it's incredible, and Matt Groenig makes the show Political. I'm sorry that this part of the rundown is so large, but it really pisses me off they took out the heart of the simpsons and replaced it with bad jokes and worse episodes. I am starting to think they made the simpsons more like family guy on purpose.

The PJ's- don't remember much about this show.

I remember when The Simpsons had heart, futurama did also. King of the hill was the only show that still had heart, I mean, it's not a non-stop laughfest, but it was entertaining and there was an actual storyline that sometimes affected the characters. I guess you could consider it an animated sitcom.

Anybody else here a King Of The Hill fanboy?

I've never understood King of the Hill. Not that I've watched too many, mind you. Is the comedy more subtle, and thus to appreciate it one would need to view more (or something like that)? I agree with you on The Simpsons.

To lavish praise upon this title, the assumption of a common plateau between player and game must be made.  I won't open my unworthy mouth.

Can't stand King of the Hill. No cartoon will ever be as good as The Simpsons was from seasons 3-10, but it's still a funny show. It's just lost the magic. Episodes are more about cheap laughs as opposed to what they used to be; funny stories with a moral at the end that made you feel good. Like Bart and Lisa playing hockey. Or going to military school. Especially the military school one.

King of the Hill is good, but the show is 10+ years old. It's had a hell of a run, but nothing lasts forever.

I think "Heart" is a good way to describe it.

Even if Simpsons (now), Family Guy, American Dad and Robot Chicken have some funny jokes (although American Dad doesn't even have that). A couple jokes don't make me want to watch a stupid, jarring, poorly written show. Shows like King of the Hill and Home Movies are a million times funnier to me because the jokes actually have a payoff. When you relate to the characters, it takes a lot less to be funny. A simple facial expression from Hank or Brendan Small can have me in stitches, but the ADD shows don't have anything like that. Only set pieces and gags. And I can't think of a single reason why you can't just look up the few funny jokes on Youtube and spare yourself a half hour of rolling your eyes.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

king of the hill

I don't know how to tell it to you but King of the hill sucks. Bad. Really bad. And its not funny. And not well drawn. And it sucks. Did I mention that its not funny?

It's sad about Futurama though. Although it was never that funny they had some of the best cartoon episodes ever.

^King of the Hill never had a broad appeal to people outside of the US like the other shows. That's why only people in the US actually like the show.

I read that even though it got canceled that it already has 13 episodes for next season that it can show, so like one half of the season could be shown by Fox. Also that the show has been canceled before. Fuck it gets way better ratings than American Dad. One of the choices for the fill in shows is another Seth McFarlane show about Cleveland from Family Guy =/.

Hi, this is Vince with Shamwow.

I live in Texas and I don't really care about King of the Hill.

The political turn of the Simpsons can be blamed on Al Jean, not Matt Groening. Essentially, the Simpsons needs to have it's entire writing and most of its directing staff replaced. Kick out the university-educated writers, and bring back those who knew funny. Get rid of Al Jean, find a new show runner. Get the voice actors to fall in love with their work again, rather than just doing it for a job, and bring back some of the classic directors - who knew how to do more than your standard shot.
