Indy did´t like the name his father gave to him? Didn´t know that (or forgot it). Ah wait, now I remember: His real name is Henry and that´s why Henry Jones always says "Junior", right? Or maybe wrong again, I alwyas confuse this dog´s name story of Indiana Jones.

Anyway, I think it´s cute to be named after a family dog and I wonder now what´s highwaystar´s first name. Hm...Fido?

Correct. Since the father always called him Junior and he didn't like it, he changed his name. The scene (very memorable, if I might add) is

Henry Jones: Elsa never really believed in the Grail. She thought she had found a prize.Indiana Jones: What did you find, Dad?Henry Jones: Me? Illumination. [The four of them mount horses] And what did you find, Junior?Indiana Jones: Junior?! Dad-Sallah: Please- what is always with this "Junior"?Henry Jones: That's his name. "Henry Jones, Junior".Indiana Jones: I like "Indiana".Henry Jones: We named the dog Indiana.Marcus Brody: May we go home now please?Sallah: The dog? You are named after the dog?! [laughs]Indiana Jones: [coldly] I've got a lot of fond memories with that dog.[ready to ride away] Ready?Henry Jones: Ready.Marcus: Indy, Henry! Follow me! I know the way! [He gallops off wildly]Henry Jones: [thoughtfully] Got lost in his own museum, huh?Indiana Jones: Uh-huh.Henry Jones: After you, Junior.Indiana Jones: Yes sir! Hyah! [they all ride off into the sunset]

Yes, the scene is memorable, but this doesn´t prevent me from confusing the whole dog name story. I think I once read that George Lucas named Indiana Jones after his own real dog and additionally brought the whole ”named after the dog” thing to the script. That´s why I always think: "Wait, was Indiana named after Lucas´ real dog or does Sean Connery just say at the end of the 3rd movie that Indy´s named after the dog?”

OT: Hmm...Fido? No. Maybe Rex?

It would be cooler if you were named after a deep purple song. A dog then? What's your name, flox? odie?

Double name myself, First name Greek, middle old German.

Nah, my name is Greg, nothing silly like Rover

also +1,000,000 pts for vonshigsy who knew the reference used in my user name.

Well, being Greek, I'm named after my grandfather.

It's kinda retarded though, because all of my male cousins end up with the exact same name.

Haha, that is great! And I know plenty of people who really value their dogs, so if it was a very special dog for them, then it's less suprising, if they hated it, then that's just rude.
