Forums - Nintendo - Wii sd cards

I just have a quick question. I recently bought gh wt for wii and went into the music store and saw you can download songs to your sd card but my card can't even fit one song! So i was wondering what is the biggest SD card size you can use?

I think it might be 2 GB for a Nintendo retail one. Other than that, I believe it's 4 GB.

Pixel Art can be fun.

Wii's internal memory is something like 2000 blocks, IIRC, so a 2GB card should give 8000 or more blocks.

if you are going to use the photo channel to hear music and see videos on Wii, the max is 2gb

*but there's also a new version of the non-licensed channel called "HomeBrew Channel" which supports SDHC cards, and you can also download other media players for Wii and use media through USB or SD card on homebrew channel applications!

the homebrew channel is great!
*i don't know if it's illegal to talk about it on the forum....

A standard SD card can hold up to 4GB of data while a SDHC card can hold much more ...

The Wii only supports SD cards at the moment, but SDHC uses the same interface as SD cards and several SD card readers can be upgraded to SDHC card readers with a firmware update, and it might be possible that the Wii could support SDHC in the future.

You better wait...

The DSi already uses SDHC cards, and there are currently 32GB cards available. Now, the Wii doesn't support SDHC now, but the Wii SD card reader is capable of SDHC, because the guys from the Homebrew Channel already let you use SDHC on the Wii for homebrew...

Now, the reason why I think the Wii doesn't allow SDHC is because license prices and stuff, BUT, if NIntendo is already paying for the SDHC license to be used on the DSi, I don't see why the Wii can't use SDHC cards too... I mean, people with a DSi and a Wii will want to use the same card.

So, better wait a few months, until the firmware update that Nintendo announced for the storage solution on the Wii... maybe they will update to SDHC too...
