Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Deadly Creatures almost done!!!!

Yeah it looks awesome and has atmosphere that is arguably scarier than usual horror (real horror is better).

I think sequels, if they happen, should stick with a small animal focus. It is incredibly intimidating surrounded by huge environments and enemies.

Either some different bugs or even rats.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Another must have for Wii owners!

hmm i will check this and mushroom men out around christmas break when i gots no school

Sounds like they've taken a page from No More Horoes' combat system. Button mashing punctuated with gestures. Sounds like the action will be a little more tactical in this game, though.

I love the concept of this game. I hope it delivers and sells enough to justify a sequel. They've suggested that a Deadly Creatures 2 might move to playing a tiger or a shark or something else crazy and awesome.

And I chuckled at the end of the piece when the developer tried to sell the game as arachnophobe therapy.

"The worst part about these reviews is they are [subjective]--and their scores often depend on how drunk you got the media at a Street Fighter event."  — Mona Hamilton, Capcom Senior VP of Marketing

I always figured that Deadly Creatures and Mushroom men (more so mushroom men) would be solid games that just got lost in the shuffle and largely ignored. However after seeing recent screenshots and info on both titles, I'm becoming cautiously optimistic. They're both still new IP's involving irregular stories that might find trouble finding an audience though.

I'm really going to be following these games' reviews and sales quite closely.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Looks like the graphics have had a bit of an upgrade since we last got a look at the game. I've always liked the looks of this game - interesting concept, fun gameplay and nice graphics. I'll keep an eye on this one.

Mushroom Men might have a hard time finding an audience but Deadly Creatures could do fairly well with good marketing and word of the mouth.

I'll definitely look forward to stinging things in this game, that's for sure. Pity I'll be away from the UK for christmas.

The only thing that still worries me about this game is that the environments look too large and occasionally too sparse. Had they been smarter and crammed them in a bit--made them slightly smaller and more claustrophobic, they would heighten the tension and atmosphere since this game is theoretically meant to have a somewhat horror feel to it.

That would also work to keeping the framerate at a solid 30 frames per second rather than falling once in a while.

I think the game looks great and I'm glad they have decided to release it in December. Now it will really be, with Symphonia, the must have mature game this holiday.

The story is supposed to be very solid, really meant as a thriller. I hope it launches in Europe soon.

My prediction: (Yes, you can quote me) 500.000 LTD WW
