Forums - Gaming Discussion - How would you feel if.....

I was thinking about this at work today...say for example you really liked console A but the market doesnt like the console and the console suffers due to the consumers buying the system....but you really liked the games that were on the system...and third parties start to cancel projects on the system....how would you feel about the situation...that you invested money into a console and finding out its not good to the mass market?

You mean, how would I feel if I'd bought a Dreamcast?

Well, I did, and it was disappointing. I still got to play some fantasic games, though.

EDIT: Am I insane, or did the Wii numbers jut get bumped up significantly?

FURTHER EDIT: I realize the two propositions are not mutually exclusive.

Just grab as many games available for the Virtual Boy and remind yourself why you bought it. I did.

I never in my life knew anything about that console...so how should I know...I just wanted to know if it was a console...and it didnt sell well how did you feel

I had a game cube, a dreamcast, a sega saturn and a N64...

It feels odd at first, and sad.

But then you remember the whole point, you buy a console because it gives you something back, not because you are supposed to consume hardware, if you like a console for its games, it doens't matter if anyone else has it or not. Play it and enjoy it.

Coming to forums on internet is a bit dangerous, because seen all this wars about something that its a complete option in your leisure life.

i don't care if the whole gaming 'hardcore' community hates the Wii, or if people don't like Excite Truck, I like it, I play it, I enjoy it.

If another different company offers me something that I like and its affordable by my wallet, I'll get it.

So yeah, it feels weird when you don't see any support from anyone else but, who cares, play the damn games that you like :)

I think people get too caught up in sales. As long as the system has the games that you like then that should be all that matters. Besides you can always buy the other consoles over time.

All 3 current consoles have some really good exclusives coming and since it's so early in their lifecycle it's a given that no matter which one you pick you'll get your money's worth.

Here, here.

I had a Gamecube, and an N64 as well.  The only thing that disappointed me was when Square developed FF7 for the PSX, since it was the only game I was looking forward to that jumped ship.  When I saw what FF7 had become, I didn't mind not having a PSX, but I was still sorely disappointed in Square's decision to go in a different direction with their games.

I played some of the best games of all time on my N64 and Gamecube.  I was never disappointed that my console of choice wasn't #1, I just felt sorry that more people couldn't appreciate these games.

Eventually, I did buy a PS2 after it had fallen in price, so that I could enjoy GT3+GT4, R-Type Final, Gradius V, and Guitar Hero 1&2.

Popularity has its positives, but it by no means defines quintessentially everyones favorite.

Dreamcast became my favorite console thus far, simply because of the level of fun I had playing the games that did come out for it. The number of games on a platform, in my personal experience, doesn't dictate how much I enjoy and support a system.

Having more options can be a very good thing, but only so long as those options don't water down the overall quality of the games that come out.

Most people, including hardcore gamers, don't purchase and play hundreds of games for their consoles which is why popularity and exclusives tend to be feathers in the cap these days.

Thing is, I don't see MS or Sony on par with Nintendo and SEGA of old, when really they only had to depend on their own works (Gamecube and Dreamcast respectfully.)

Although I think Sony is trying to get there this generation, which is one of the reasons I chose to buy a PS3 regardless of sales, and MS is attempting to buy its way into that sector of the gaming echelons. And frankly I don't think MS's strategy will work long term.

I am the proud owner of a fully-functional Virtual Boy.
