Forums - Sales - LBP selling out

iam sure LBP will sell well but there is buzz on the internet about this game.
all the stores near me had full stock of them in

You can bet there is buzz! I'm growing persuaded Sony willingly inflated the Qu'ran verses issue to add buzz to buzz.

I wonder how much it will increase though? I'm giving it 300k.

I would say 400k+, easy.

its gonna be huge. My local best buy said they got 200 (!!!) copies, got recalled, then they got 50 saturday and I snatched the last copy today. So imagine 50 times number of Best Buys, plus other chains like Target, Wal Mart, etc, add in a bit less than that per store for Gamestops... It's gonna be a big number.

PSN: chenguo4
Current playing: No More Heroes

Still can't believe how Sony managed to squash what should be its biggest release of the holiday season with the whole recall thing.

I wasn't able to find a copy in stores in the SJ area, which could mean that either the copies were sent back in accordance with the recall, or whatever stock they received was sold out.

They have it on Amazon, so I could always just order it from there.

We'll see how the sales are tracking once it's in stock everywhere in another week or two. LBP could end up being one of those games where sales continue to rise as world of mouth gets around the mass market consumer.

I agree with wot Phil said on it... i don't think it matter much to Sony if a game sells 500k first week then go on to sell 3 million LTD or it sell 200k in the first week and then go on to sell 3 million LTD... its the same thing for Sony.. but getting in another negative controversy is not wot they need right now..

Important thing is that can LBP bring casual gamers to PS3 and can it move consoles... and can it provide better appeal to wider audience to spend in this crunch economic times..

On Amazon LBP has dropped from 8th to 13th. Oddly Gears 2 pre-orders are ahead of it. If LBP was in as much demand as people claim on here would it not be going up the chart not down it? Or do amazon just make it up as they go along?

Amazon is rarely a good judge for sales, on its own that is, only a small piece of the puzzle. However on the topic of Amazon, Amazon.ca is sold out of LBP. (restock in 1-4 weeks)

I believe Amazon updates the rankings regularly based on latest orders - which would mean the order could change a lot depending when you look as you might look after a glut of LBP orders then later look and see a glut of GeOW orders.

Also, if it appeals to the mythical 'casual' gamer then its going to be more about legs for the title than the openning (which is big for hardcore AAA titles but then tends to fall off fairly quickly to a small steady state than popular casual titles).

I think anyone expecting it to break all openning week records is going to be wrong I suspect.

However, given it 'leaked' last week its results for next week are going to look plain wrong anyway.  IMHO the only way to judge what would have been its 'true' first week will be to add this week to next week as clearly the lucky few who got it early won't be buying next week but they should have had to wait until next week so the 'true' adjusted first week demand will be the aggregation of both sets of numbers.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

So the copies that were within that 164,000 sold could be worth a bit more because that song wasn't removed? Just asking...but I doubt people would buy 2 LBP games because of it

Naraku. I know people who are buying 2 copies. And, recalled copies are selling for around $100CDN ($80 US) on ebay.
